Some Republican leaders are trying to move on from former President Donald Trump’s failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election that he lost.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyCBPEM-pHw:192

This interview was six years in the making. Trump and his team have repeatedly declined interviews with NPR until Tuesday when he called in from his home in Florida. It was scheduled for 15 minutes but lasted just over nine.

After being pressed about his repeated lies about the 2020 presidential election, Trump abruptly ended the interview. :D:D:D

Saa si mliiba why don’t you fellows ever move on with your thieving ways?

You keep cwlebrating one stolen election or you think you will stral forever and ever?

You can keep the Southern border open all day every day to let in voters, you can even split DC and NY to create more college votes but that will only go so far.

You can print as many mail in ballots as you please but even that has its limits. You will soon run out of options.

A case in mind is the Trump Arizona rally last night. Here’s a review:

Trump’s performance in Arizona on Saturday night—his first rally in months and his much-hyped chance to respond to the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot—was neither shocking nor terribly newsworthy.

It didn’t even merit a mention on The Washington Post’s homepage Sunday morning. The New York Times only used Trump’s speech as a peg to write a broader story under the headline: “Trump Rally Underscores G.O.P. Tension Over How to Win in 2022.”

A few years ago, Trump rallies spawned breathless coverage and drove multiple news cycles. But The Times’ story isn’t even about the rally, and their mentioning it is mostly perfunctory.

To keep readers’ attention, The Times spotlighted a cast of supporting characters, such as Kari Lake, a Trump-endorsed candidate for Arizona governor who used to be a local news anchor. The photo of her in The Times shows her wearing some sort of cape, which I think we can all find mysterious. No wonder they used her.

The Arizona rally may have been the unofficial kickoff of his 2024 campaign. But this time around, Trump will have to work harder to break through—and not just because the media is less likely to give him ample air time free of charge.

Call it the Andrew Dice Clay conundrum: If your entire schtick is based on shock value, eventually the audience grows inured, and the lack of substance becomes embarrassingly plain.

Trump made assertions in Arizona Saturday night that might once have garnered buzz (on Sunday morning, at least). But they’re getting little play. In its writeup of the rally, Politico said Trump “issued a blistering response to Democrats” and that he “opened his speech by falsely claiming ‘proof’ that the 2020 election was ‘rigged.’” A more telling fact is that this “blistering response” was not deemed worthy enough to be the site’s lead story. What might have spawned outrage and wagging tongues a few years prior now elicits a collective chorus of yawns.

Trump’s rock-concert rallies provide enough of his greatest hits for the fans and groupies who actually attend them. But for performers to remain relevant, they require new material. And politics is more stand-up comedy than rock and roll.

Trump seems like the sort of man who could appreciate the temporal, consumerist, and disposable culture of modernity. We fetishize what is new and what is next. Yet, Trump’s obsession with relitigating an election that is now two calendar years past runs contrary to this modern American tendency. In this regard, his ego trumps his marketing savvy.

On the eve of the one-year anniversary of his inauguration, President Joe Biden held a formal news conference at the White House Wednesday, answering reporter questions on his handling of the pandemic, the economy, and legislative agenda, characterizing the country as unified – but not as much as it could be – and raised eyebrows by saying Russia was likely to invade Ukraine.

Wednesday’s session marks just the second time Biden has held a solo formal press conference at the White House. The first such news conference was held on March 25, 2021.

Since then, he held five news conferences on foreign trips, and three in partnership with other foreign leaders at the White House, for a total of nine news conferences. While Biden often answers questions shouted by the press at other events, his tally of formal news conferences is the lowest for any president since Ronald Reagan, according to data from the University of California Santa Barbara’s American Presidency Project.

Donald Trump & Melania Trump’s Wedding Anniversary Plans Include Spending Most of Their Time Apart

January 23, 2022

With wedding anniversaries, the typical etiquette is that no matter what you do — from a chill day to spending time on vacation — you do it all with your spouse. However, former President Donald Trump and Melania Trump are doing something a bit different — by spending most of their anniversary apart.

Since their nuptials back on Jan 22, 2005, their lives have gone through many changes, so they decided to stay low-key and spend their anniversary in a familiar place. For their 17th wedding anniversary, the Trumps decided to stay at their Mar-a-Lago Club with a close source per People saying, “Mar-a-Lago is their home and they could not be happier about that.”

Now instead of breaking out the rose petals on the heart-shaped bed, they’re mostly keeping to themselves.
Except for a get-together dinner, Donald plans on golfing with his pals, and Melania will split her time amongst her personal projects and spending time with family. :D:D:D

The source from People said, “Melania has her own fashionable interests and wants to do something with them to make money… Melania appears vibrant, happy and confident, and seems to have found her own interests away from the spotlight.”

They added, “She makes an appearance with Donald for certain dinners, but spends much of her time with her own family. This is a way of life for her and she likes it, especially in Palm Beach… She knows what Donald wants from her, but the rest of her life is dictated by her own interests. Each has come to respect what the other wants and needs.”

From the outside looking in, it can sound lonely, but if it works for them, it works.

The Trumps got engaged in 2004, marrying soon after in a star-studded ceremony in 2005 at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida. A year later, they welcomed their son Barron William Trump.

This is the single most Republican-friendly state in the country:

There are a lot of ways to try to figure out which state is the most friendly to one political party.

The most common method is to look at the margins in the previous presidential race. Or to look at how long it’s been since one party has won a state at the presidential level.

The Center for Politics at the University of Virginia has come up with another way to rank the states in terms of their partisan leans – and it comes down to this longtime political maxim: Demography is destiny.

The Center for Politics used three criteria to rank the states demographically:

 1. What percentage of the state’s residents 25 or older have bachelor’s degrees or higher?

 2. What percentage of the state’s residents are White?

 3. How urban or rural is the state?

As Louis Jacobson wrote:

“Put simply, Republican candidates now perform strongest among White voters without a college degree, especially if they live in rural areas. And Democrats, conversely, are performing best among minority voters, those with at least an undergraduate degree, and those who live in or near urban areas.”

The center added each state’s ratings on those three categories together. The lower the number, the more friendly for Republicans. The higher the number, the more favorable for Democrats.

And it found that the most demographically friendly state for Republicans is …
WEST VIRGINIA!
Yes, the same West Virginia that Sen. Joe Manchin, a Democrat, represents. That should convince any lingering Democratic doubters that the alternative to Manchin in the US Senate is almost certainly a Republican.

Here are the rest of the most GOP-friendly states in the top 10:
2. Wyoming
3. Kentucky
4. (tie) South Dakota, Idaho, North Dakota, Iowa
8. Montana
9. Maine
10. Arkansas

And here are the 10 most Democratic-friendly states:

 1. Maryland
 2. New Jersey
 3. New York
 4. California
 5. Massachusetts
 6. Hawaii
 7. (tie) Connecticut, Illinois
 8. Virginia
 9. Colorado

Notably, the state at the top of the list here, Maryland, is represented by Republican Gov. Larry Hogan.
These rankings generally line up with recent presidential election results. Only two states in the top 10 for Republicans (Iowa and Maine) have voted for a Democratic presidential nominee in the last decade. And none of the 10 most Democratic-friendly states have gone for a Republican in the last decade.
Which state is in the demographic middle? Michigan, which ranks 25th. The state has played host to two very close presidential contests, in 2016 (won by Donald Trump) and 2020 (won by Joe Biden).

The Point: Demography really is destiny – politically speaking, at least.
– Chris

Judge orders Trump, children to answer questions about their business practices under oath
A New York judge shot down a bid to block the state attorney general’s subpoenas of the former president, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump.

Former President Donald Trump must answer questions under oath in New York state’s civil investigation into his business practices, a judge ruled Thursday.
Judge Arthur Engoron ordered Trump and his two eldest children, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., to comply with subpoenas issued in December by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Trump and his two children must sit for a deposition within 21 days, Engoron said.
Engoron issued the ruling after a two-hour hearing with lawyers for the Trump and James’ office.
“In the final analysis, a State Attorney General commences investigating a business entity, uncovers copious evidence of possible financial fraud, and wants to question, under oath, several of the entities’ principals, including its namesake. She has the clear right to do so.” Engoron wrote in his decision.
The ruling is almost certain to be appealed, but if upheld it could force the former president into a tough decision about whether to answer questions or stay silent, citing his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
Spokespeople for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the ruling.
James, a Democrat, said her investigation has uncovered evidence Trump’s company used “fraudulent or misleading” valuations of assets like golf courses and skyscrapers to get loans and tax benefits.

New York AG says her office has evidence Trump’s company lied to tax officials, banks
New York State’s Attorney General Letitia James’ office said in a court filing she wants to question former President Trump, his son Donald Trump, Jr., and his daughter, Ivanka Trump, under oath. Her office said it told a court its investigators have evidence Mr. Trump’s company used “fraudulent or misleading” asset valuations to get tax benefits and loans.
Trump’s lawyers told Engoron during the hearing that having him sit for a civil deposition now, while his company is also the subject of a parallel criminal investigation, is an improper attempt to get around a state law barring prosecutors from calling someone to testify before a criminal grand jury without giving them immunity.
“If she wants sworn testimony from my client, he’s entitled to immunity. He gets immunity for what he says, or he says nothing,” Trump’s criminal defense lawyer, Ronald Fischetti, said in the hearing, which was conducted by video conference.
