Anger over Texas’ power outages in the face of a record winter freeze continued to mount Wednesday as millions of residents in the energy capital of the U.S. remained shivering. There were still no assurances that their electricity and heat — out since Monday in many homes — would return soon or stay on once it finally does.

In all, nearly 3 million customers in Texas still had no power Wednesday after historic snowfall and single-digit temperatures created a surge in demand for electricity to warm up homes unaccustomed to such extreme lows, buckling the state’s power grid and causing widespread blackouts. A large swath of Texas was under yet another winter storm warning Wednesday.

Making matters worse: Expectations that the outages would be a shared sacrifice by the state’s 30 million residents quickly gave way to a cold reality as pockets in some of America’s largest cities, including San Antonio, Dallas and Austin, were left to shoulder the brunt of a catastrophic power failure n subfreezing conditions that Texas’ grid operators had known was coming.
You can thank the Green New Deal and the bogus windmills which have frozen, combined with a historic snowfall which drastically increased demand on the power grid. Texas is the largest producer of natural gas in the US they shouldn’t be having this problem but you know, climate change. Green energy has its limits and we can now appreciate that. Wind turbines contribute like 10% of the grid in Texas.
Texas is in darkness because its oil and gas electricity generation was crippled by frozen equipment and pipelines. The fossil fuels could not even be transported to the power plants.
Even the nuclear plants froze.
The state is also in darkness because it opted for a separate grid from the rest of the country, to avoid federal regulation.
If they were part of the other two North American grid system, the rest of the US and Canada would have kicked in when Texas power production capacity failed.
You’re terribly misinformed. Why are you denying the facts when your beloved CNN has also acknowledged that frozen wind turbines (wind power is the second leading power source in Texas) are the reason for their power outages! This is what you get for listening to the “zero carbon” nuts when we all know that coal and natural gas power are largely impervious to the weather.
