Paying tithe

I admit this is something I have always struggled with. In campo, I used to faithfully tithe my meagre allowance from parents. I admit during those times I also never lacked but i cannot say for sure it is because I paid tithe. First forward to my first job, I continued paying tithe but with time i started travelling a lot for my job. I slowly lost touch with my church because I could easily miss services an entire month. Then I moved towns a couple of times so I never managed to stay and bond with one church. It is hard for me to tithe if I my spirit is not in sync with the church’s. At some point I stopped tithing entirely. Whenever I am in Kenya and I go to church I can give offerings but tithe ni ngumu since I don’t feel that connection with them. So for Christians here, do you pay tithe? And I am not talking about Kyuna churches, I am talking about established ones like ACK.

am a pure catholic lkn tithe cjawahi lipa

then stop having the mentality that you have to be in synch with a church and have a connection with GOD.wherever you go HE will be there for you

:D:D:D:D:D:D:Dits 21st century and people still believe in tithing …father lawd ,i even don’t believe in god

you don’t believe in god but not GOD

Am a catholic too, lakini sadaka ndo me hutoa, and at times i dont go to church due Heavy satos, but i do pray shortly when i wake up

same case here

hehe… kuna watu hapa hawatapatana na 99 virgins kule Heaven… better give Ceaser what belongs to Ceaser my guy!

You honestly believe giving 10% of your earnings to a clergyman means you’ve given it to God?

lawd have mercy… tithe sijawai toa all of life. but am good. i think its my Mum prayers doing the miracle…

When i was young, yes. Now, not so sure. I just hate that thing pastors say, that we are stealing from God

Sadaka no problem, but tithe ndio I struggle. When pastor says we are stealing from God i feel guilty sometimes

What does the Bible say about tithing…?

(i find the bible to have so many rules and regulations)…

Am catholic not a levite why should I pay tithe Ata tax ni vile tu nlazima

Tithe was used to maintain the orphan, poor and widows, You are better off giving it directly to them instead of enriching the coffers of the’spiritual Papa’s and Mama’s’

me i dont feel any guilt, infact i feel the church is richer than me by far, so they are robbing me, Tithe goes to ROME na?? The economy of the Vatican, i help people who i can see and understan, sadaka mi hutoa ya kusaidia functions za church which are partly financed by the Mission

Tithe ni lazima. I simply just do it and ask no questions. It’s one of those things you do by faith. Like for instance, should I revenge against a wrong doing or should i forgive? The path of least resistance is revenge and be bitter, lakini faith tells me to forgive and I do it. The same with tithing.it’s purely an act of OBEDIENCE. Obey first, then reason later. Besides, it’s only 10% of your cash. It honestly won’t make any life altering impact.

Spot on. Tithes and offerings were entirely meant to sustain the Levites who were priests and for the maintenance of widows, orphans and those in need, i hate how churches have neglected the poor and oppressed choosing to build office spaces, hotels, schools (which are too expensive for kids from poor families) and all manner of income generating projects, mwishowe this monies get lost in needless opulence.

I decided to contribute directly to charitable causes, i implore christians to do so badala ya kutajirisha watu, offering nitatoa lakini only to sustain ministry lakini the larger chunk goes to those in most need.

When you read proverbs,
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies,
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.

those are the irreducible minimums. Story za tithe ni sideshows za mapastor. Abraham gave tithe only once in his entire life.

You played yourself.
Modern pastors and religious conmen don’t like mentioning the fact that tithing was an Old Testament requirement. Tithe was presented to the Levites.
Nowhere in the New Testament are Christians told to tithe.

So, if we have abandoned all the Leviticus laws, why does the church still talk about tithing… after all, it was one of those ancient laws.

So, next time your pastor talks about tithing, ask them whether you should also do the following according to Leviticus. Laws should be followed in totality.

  1. Don’t touch an unclean animal.
  2. Don’t let your hair be unkempt.
  3. Don’t drink alcohol in holy places. (Tricky because they will give you wine right after a lecture on tithing)
  4. Don’t eat an animal that does not chew cud or has a divided hoof.
  5. Don’t eat or touch any seafood without fins or scales.
  6. You can only go to church 33 days after giving birth and after offering a sacrifice.
  7. Don’t mix fabrics in clothing.
  8. Don’t trim your beards
  9. Don’t cut your hair at the sides.
  10. No tattoos.
