Such are the things that lead to revolution,remember even when the oil prices hit their low per barrel I don’t think we as Kenyan enjoyed it.You can push people that much

If this is effected it will translate to Kes 18 less per litre of petrol/diesel which is the fuel levy.
In the long run motorist will be the beneficiaries.

Don’t worry, a court can block the implementation of such a law because it interferes with freedom of movement. This one just like the electronic cash payment system that was introduced for public service vehicles will just collapse.

A common misinterpretation, ask your self why they want to abolish Fuel levy, because it brings only i think 30b a year, government knows it will rank up alot of money with this law.

  1. It will start with some few roads, check the paper nairobi roads and mombasa first.
  2. Other regions will enjoy a few months
  3. Other regions fuel will be cheap
  4. Then Govt to say 5 shillings is too little, waongezee adi like 10 shillings
  5. The toll stations introduced all over kenya because if nairobi and mombasa have embraced the new laws other regions are just “others”
  6. All this is done because of “THE ONE COMPANY” which will win the tender for “25 years” is politically correct…
  7. If the company wins the tender now 2016 add 25 years then the said company will maintain and charge uses till 2041!!!

There many inaccuracies and misinterpretation on that article i don’t even know where to start.

First of all the current road from Mombasa to Malaba and other road network will continue being free, will be expanded when necessary and maintained by national government. Secondly government is considering proposals from private companies (PPP-Private/Partner/Partnerships) from China and usa to build a national expressway across Kenya starting with northern corridor (Mombasa-Nairobi-Malaba). They are proposing to provide their own finance (@Mzee mzima) that means no loans at all, to build, maintain and charge motorist to use their private roads i.e connect all 47 counties on express highways. This proposal is being pushed aggressively by usa government and Bechtel Corp, the single largest construction firm in the usa. They build the hoover dam and several other high profile projects there. Nothing has been decided yet on the cost charged at the toll stations on the private roads but it can’t be out of reach of motorists who still have free public roads available. So good people relax, don’t let doomsayers and misinformation alarm you. Their is massive infrastructure projects coming on PPP and Kenya will never be the same again.

It wont see the light of day, it will be challenged. A government can only set up a toll station if there is an alternative route to the same destination. It therefore gives the motorist freedom of choice. He either decides to get held up in the Jam and delay, or pay extra cash at the toll station and use an express way with no traffic jams

And knowing Kenya, there are no guarantees that the express ways won’t have traffic jams during certain periods.
