Have you ever thought that your sons could be over eating?
My nephew and his friends walibomoa kila mtu chapati nne na stew within minutes. I thought ni peke yangu who noted that but on close enquiry, my uncle stated the same thing. Kwa hao yake, they buy two separate loaves of bread. Moja ya kijana, the rest ni ya familia.
Mind you, the son is not obese but in a day ile chakula yeye hufagia kwa fridge, hata wewe unaweza shtuka.
I don’t think tulikuwa tunakula ivo tukiwa high school.
Is this something that modern teenage boys will outgrow? Ama you should be prepared to buy bale mzima ya maize flour when they are living under your roof?
Sionangi Yurop and Japanese teenagers or even adults gouging huge amounts of food…
Portion sizes are cultural, don’t lay it on teenage metabolism only. If your teenage son were to live with a Japanese family, angekuwa anafeel njaa tele sana in the first few months…
Chapati nne ni kidogo…mimi nilikuwa mnadishi 6…mkate hadi highschool nilikuwa nakula nusu breko…nusu ingine tea break na ingine after night preps…ile njaa msee hufeel tebu fuatilia storo ya rashford ujue kwa nini alipush UK government ipeane free school meals
That’s normal bwana, chapati tu inakushtua…ambia mamake ampe ugali na viazi kwa wingi.
Msiweke mtoto na njaa, this the time to eat.
There was a time in high school, I used to do at least two rounds during mealtime. I think I was 15/16. The school used to throw food and I got a good reason to confront them with ‘Sijashiba’
metabolism slows down as you age, in your 30s I think you start eating half of what you used to as a teenager unashiba, if you exceed that you get fat, unless unafanya kazi juacali… personally I used to eat 3 chapos kama kijana, saa hii 1 is more than enough for supper na shiba hadi kesho lunchtime
Normal teenage behaviour. You most probably acted the same way in the teenage albeit on grown or wild fruits. Mimi nilikuwa napanda mti wa mapera, mzabibu ama maembe together with my friends and cousins saa tatu asubuhi nashuka saa saba kwendea lunch only to resume the position on the tree at 2 o’clock till 4 pm tukienda kucheza mpira ya juala. Unashuka tuu briefly kwenda kwa choo ama ukitumwa dukani. Looking at the tree, you would think it was invaded by monkeys going by the number of seeds falling to the ground. Real monkeys hated us for that I guess.
Yes teenage boys eat a lot. I live with one who can eat you under the table. Yaani bowls and bowls of cereals for breakfast, a big lunch and a few mins starts asking what is for dinner!! Thank God he can cook simple meals now awache kuniuliza…in short huwa hawashibi. He is not a fan of Kenyan food like Ugali, sweet potatos, ndumas, cassava, matoke, mukimo and this is the food that can shibisha him. So anajipikia a huge pot of spagetti, pasta, mince meat or just meat and clears it. Half loaf ni yake…if we order pizza, moja ni yake…and it is the large ones the size of a gitaruru…but hii stage hupitawakifika twennies. They start eating healthily and working out.
The boy is growing, I was in a constant state of hunger at that age ! this is where they experience a growth spat wacha aji bonde, pia wana lala kama python imemeza ndama , growth is very taxing on the body !
