I think parenthood is spiritual work. Nurturing a functional human being from scratch is such a huge odyssey that is tasking if you’re not together inside. It’s like lifelong hiking. And not so many people who venture into it are prepared or have enough tools to do it well. I often think about how someone’s answer to “why do you want children?” reveals so much about how disconnected/connected they are with themselves.
