At least 13 police station commanders have been transferred from Nairobi and their positions taken over by newly promoted officers.
The transfer affected a total of 380 officers all of the rank of Chief Inspector from the General Service Unit (GSU) Police Airwing, Presidential Escort Unit (PEU), Traffic, Dog Unit and the Kenya Police College, Kiganjo.
Long serving Buruburu OCS Chief Inspector (C.I) Johnson Matoke has been transferred to Sotik as the Staffing Officer in Charge of Personnel (SOP).
The new Buruburu OCS is Chief Inspector Chepkorocho Masai who has been transferred from Kijipwa police station.
Chief Inspector Stephen Lelei, who was feted for bravery during the Westgate siege, is the new Industrial Area police station boss. Mr Lelei was the in charge of weighbridge in Busia and he replaces C.I Amos Shamalla who has been transferred to Kajiado County headquarters.
Ruaraka OCS C.I Amos Ambasa is the new Kayole Traffic boss and he has been replaced by C.I Isaac Ewaton from Maragua.
Kayole OCS C.I Robert Wabwire has been transferred to Busia as the SOP, while former Kondele deputy OCS Abdulahi Abdi Alinur is the new Muthangari OCS. He replaces C.I Paterson Lipa who has been transferred to Naivasha as the SOP.
Other officers transferred to new stations are C.I Benus Keino (Riruta), C.I Francis Muthee Gichuhi (Karen), C.I Joseph Kiplagat Cherotich (Huruma), C.I Chrisptopher Wesonga (Shauri Moyo), C.I Bashir Ali (Kikuyu), and C.I Isaac Sirengo Siata (Wilson Airport).
Most of the officers were of the rank of Inspectors of Police and were promoted last week before being transferred.
The officers are expected to report to their new stations by February 20, according to a letter signed by Mr Stanley Lamai, the Director of Personnel at the Police headquarters.
