PAL, NTSC, SECAM TVs.... is this relevant anymore?

Good people…it used to be that you could not buy a TV in the USA and use it here in kenya because their system is NTSC and ours PAL and the inbuilt tuner wouldn’t hack our systems…
Now with all these LED TVs in the market, is this still relevant? given that the inputs that we use for our TVs are through DSTV, zuku, bamba and other MPEG based decoder and not free to air…has anyone had an experience with this?
The bottom line is that I have identified an LED UHD TV that I want to order from AMAZON.COM USA and ship it to Kenya, 1) will I have a problem with compatibility and 2nd) dealwise, is it finacially worth it or should I just go the Jumia/Kilimall way?

As far as I know it’s always been possible to select the system that is used in your area when setting up your TV for initial use

yeah they are still very relevant kabisaaa… havent u heard of NTSC or PAL- based digital TV/HDTV Framerate ? ziko bado producing 1080i images! ngugul mblo

uko na uhd content ama decoder?

yep.hd DSTV decoder…all connected via HDMI; and I plan to stream a lot from kodi/popcorn time

sorry thinking of buying only HD 1080P

If you’re thinking of a tv with an integrated digital tuner, sahau hiyo. North America (and S. Korea) use ATSC while we’re on DVB-T2.

Halafu pia, hivyo @Hash_Tag amesema.

You don’t have to worry about all the technical issues raised above, LED Tv’s with video systems for all regions are sold on Amazon, I bought my LED from Amazon and it works great, its got PAL,NTSC,DVB-2 etc…

If you enter the system menu of such TVs, there’s an option to switch between PAL, NTSC, AUTO and SECAM. DVB-T2 is used in Kenya, Africa and most of Europe. Check the same model on Amazon UK.
