Am not getting all this gimmicky innovations for screens… The smartphone i believe is now ripe for disruption… Its reign is coming to an end afer a glorious a heady 13yrs…
In my opinion, the next age is actually about wearable devices, and wearable visualization technology… Think smartwatches linked to wireless earbuds, linked to contact lenses that have display capabilities… Which are also connectable to other devices in their environments like cars, door locks, cloud computers, banks… AI personal assistants…
This is very cool. Would take up one if it was to be priced within my reach
It’s how tech progresses. You have to adapt and see whether the utility is there.
With foldables, the crease in the middle is an ying and noticeable.
Xiaomi came with the all screen phone Hadi nyumba. Most people who saw the product said it was a great concept but not really practical.
The LG wing is also good but hiyo kuflip haileti shangwe.
This is a step in right direction.
Maybe hata they can make a phone the size of a pen and only roll out then you want to interact with the screen.
Samsung is rumored to be working on a transparent display.
Disruption will come but there has to be enough tech advancement to support it
The tech is already there… the smartphone revolution began and was about screens and amalgamating the internet and other useful pocket devices into one communication gadjet… and then social media fueled and catalyzed the whole revolution…
Right now, i think, as devices all become “intelligent” and exhibit some levels or 'responsiveness" and ability to communicate with each other as machines… The focus is to deliver that integration between the virtual and the real world and let machines do their thing in the background seamlessly… And screens are actually an obstacle in that and hence need disruption.
That is why i feel all these innovations in screens are just gimmicky… And not addressing the limitations of screens…
True, but this has no day to day application except from watching videos on a bigger display na kustua umati
