On Morara Kebaso: Did He Over-Estimate His Clout?

Morara Kebaso on Wednesday announced that he is taking a break from politics and activism to re-strategise and determine the best way to engage with his supporters.

In a statement, Kebaso acknowledged that some of his supporters did not show up for him in times of trouble admitting that he needed a solution to better mobilise his supporters, hence the decision to take a break.

“I am taking a small break to restrategize. I have a problem that needs a solution. Most of my supporters cheer me online but when I am in trouble they never show up. I need a new strategy on how to mobilise my loyal supporters to have my back whenever I am under attack,” he stated.

"The attacks have intensified and the police have become smart, they do it on days when there is something big happening so that it goes unnoticed.”

"That’s why I need a break. I am genuinely fighting for Kenya but I need Kenya to fight for me. Therefore, I need to find a way to convince Kenya to fight for me,” he added.

The drastic decision is not without merit since Kebaso has been plagued with several challenges over the past few weeks.

So far, Kebaso has been arrested twice over what his supporters believe to be bogus charges, seemingly confirmed by how fast the first cyber harassment charge was thrown out with the main plaintiff, David Langat, denying his involvement in the indictment.

On Friday during the Public Participation exercise regarding the impeachment of DP Gachagua, Kebaso was also attacked by delegates at the Bomas and denied the microphone to address the crowd.

Following this altercation, he released a video two days ago airing his concerns that the National Intelligence Service (NIS) had embedded a mole in his team and attributed that to suspicious incidents that had been happening to him for weeks.

He cited his accident in Embu a few weeks ago as one of the incidents that sparked his suspicion. Upon conducting a background search, his team was unable to trace the owner of the vehicle as it was not registered to an individual but a non-existent company.

In the same video, he went on to explain that he had started to take his security more seriously as any time he announced his whereabouts, the details would be leaked and bad things would happen. He believed the mole was someone not only in his team but also very close to him as there had also been an attempt to poison his food as well.

Kebaso further urged Kenyans to raise concerns over any of his team members’ suspicious activities and he assured them that he would vet every member of his team to ensure there were no unscrupulous people in his team selling him out to the authorities. He also urged them to contribute towards his private security as it was expensive.

Just a day ago, Kebaso was arrested once again for behaving in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by uttering the words ‘Kufa Dereva Kufa Makanga’ at the Bomas of Kenya the day he was attacked.

“Afadhali msinichangie doh lakini mkuwe present kunipea support. Msiniachilie hivyo tena,” civic educator Morara Kebaso says after his second arrest.

“I expected you to come out to support me because you have lied to me that we are together. I am supposed to fight for you so you can fight for me. We are supposed to be comrades in the struggle. Msikue kila time tunarun hashtag #Occupy, #Match then you don’t show up, then you make fun of those who show up.”

“If you are genuinely in this struggle, then you are part of the problem, na ukiniunfollow, sina shida. I don’t want followers for entertainment. I want followers who believe in change,” Morara added.

Kenyans we love being conned. Here comes another conman.

What Morara is doing requires lots of capital, which he doesn’t have. Hii mchezo ya kuzunguka town na V8 guzzlers giving fiery speeches is an expensive endeavor. Alafu you know utalala ndani sometimes so pesa ya bail lazima ukuwe nayo.

Hii shughuli yake requires hundreds of millions minimum. You need a car that can withstand assasination attempts (bullet proof GX ama RX350) and a few cars following you at all times to make sure you’re safe (security tight kabisa). You need money to pay them. You also can’t just live anywhere bwana because you need to hide ukikujiwa usiku wa manane kama Wanjigi. That means you need a mansion somewhere with a bunker. Pesa otas.

To do what he wants to do requires serious cash. I think he underestimated the task at hand. Only rich buffoons like tinga, gachagua and wanjigi can sustain the onslaught that follows from expressing views such as Morara’s.

Ata big wigs kama Kabogo and Mike Sonko couldn’t do anything when sirkal was unleashed. Sembuse some 28 year old guy with only a few millions.

Only Uhuru and Raila can withstand onslaught by Ruto’s Sugoi squad pale DCI. They are the only two Kenyans outside of RValley that have a sizable tribal base. Wanjigi is stinking rich, but he is literally on his own. He is occasionally accompanied by that verbose Jeng lawyer called Willis, a handful of nervous supporters and his wife plus kids. Wanjigi cannot mount a significant offense against Sugoi squad.

Morara got excited that he was a nephew of the great Kisii MP the late Morara. That is as far as it goes. Though he has the smarts, Morara s generally tactless and impulsive. He will soften down the moment they start squeezing his balls

You might be right about kamwana and tinga being the only two men with large enough tribal bases to withstand an onslaught from Nabii. Watermelon pia could go on the offensive but he is as weak as they come. Gachagua for sure can take the fight to Nabii. He’s the only other kikuyu who can attack Zakayo given he has a huge kikuyu base pia, second only to Uhuru.

Morara should do an apprenticeship under one of these guys so he can inherit a solid base. A lone kisii guy will be eaten alive. Kama angekuwa msapere he would have had a lot of support. He just happens to be the wrong tribe, unfortunately.

I think i have said it here that this morara is just a daydreamer. He doesnt know nothing. He is just another cocky young man blinded by the fickle ‘support’ he gets from frenzied online kenyans. He is a nobody.
Sasa, he has started crying even when Jambaz has not touched him. what if Ruto squeezes his balls? Nimesema hapa that those who think genz will be a force to reckon with in 2027 are just being naive.
Ruto will win big in 2027.

Morara is the Ruto-Raila alternative we have been crying out for for years. Since he does not have deep pockets like wealthy, seasoned politicians, we have to do the fund raising. Maybe he is a scam but he is a bet worth making, personally am through with Raila-Ruto and I don’t think we will have another young person try for this thing anytime soon if Morara fails. If just 1M people can raise 50 bob for his campaign he will go far.

morara umemjua less than two months ago.

mimi nimesema yeye ni idler ile time wakenya wote walikuwa wanamuona kama mtu wa maana one month ago.

with time, sitabadilisha msimamo yangu kumhusu, lakini wakenya wenye walikua wanamtambua sana watabadilisha msimamo yao, na time itakuonyesha kuwa @sani is ever right on everything.

If you can switch from Raila/Ruto suddenly and move to morara and consider him a saviour so quickly, it shows you can be taken advantage of easily, and, with a little political strategy, mtu yyote atakunasa. na io ndio nature ya wakenya wengi.

How do you expect him to raise funds for his activities? Are we saying leadership is only limited to rich people who can buy their way into power? Hii ni democracy aina gani? Go and vote for your JSKS, it’s your choice anyway.

being poor does not mean you have leadership skills.
there’s are so many platforms he could have raised his voice when the government was killing youths during #occupyparliament demonstrations, free platforms, but he didn’t.

He is an idler only after free public money, and NIS will give him money, ndio aache kuomba omba kwa social media, then mtaachwa mkiwa embarrassed, mmenaswa na mkisii.
