Life is unique to everyone in perspective.
However, it isn’t wise to allow your happiness to be in the power of anyone but you. This also applies to family.
That is unfortunately the times we are in, our Arican cultures, beliefs and traditions are eroding very fast. And in that erosion, the concept of family as a foundation and hierarchy is going to the sewers.
The current times requires pragmatism more than ever. If you were to decide to have many kids for social/familial/economic support, it may backfire, you may end up more of a peasant as a reward for your donkey work. And be more miserable in old age instead of grateful for life.
You may have few and maybe they will (support). If not, you may be having wealth to employ this support as you prepare for the HereAfter.
Selfishness is the favorite child of capitalism, everyone is embracing it.
So don’t expect that your family will be social to you in your old age.
Try your best to teach and foster the bond of family in your wife and kids. In the face of rapidly changing times, it may or it may not work.
But in all results that will turn out, just try to look out and not depart a bitter, miserable or poor old man.
The reason for man to live is to serve the Universe and humanity.
The majority of us are safe in seeking to reproduce in order to secure our lineage. That will be our only service.
There are however other men who have a higher calling.
I wouldn’t call Isaac Newton a failure in any way since he didn’t have kids. He’s way much of service than you and I will ever be.

Most live in old houses half fallen, and have been robbed so much they do not even have a door on their houses or bother locking it. They are not living a happy excited life of old age and prosperity.
The whole process of aging is terrible whether you’re single or not and the looming end scares everyone.
Humanity benefits many times over from the people you’re comfortable calling outliers.
There’ll always be people whose purpose is to usher humanity to a new age. Another example is Leo da Vinci.
Calling them failures on the basis of not having children is playing yourself.

Old men and women, 60s, 70s, 80s…bunched together in a “plot”. Mud walled houses, walls zenyewe zina shimo.
They cook for themselves-mostly porridge and viazi, day in day out.
Nikitoka hapo, a young girl comes in, “ameletea guka yake chakula” because they can’t “house” him kwao. No one wants that responsibility.
So the only community these old people had about 13 of them, is each other. And food is inconsistent. Wengi wanalala kwa floor.
Essentially, it is an “old people’s” home.
That aside, many other oldies not be in such homes, but are left to fend for themselves. They don’t have the company…
