I have been in the County for the three days now and my observation is that there is an unusually high number of old torn Currency in circulation. In denominations of 50, 100 and 200.
Is it possible that somebody is stealing these notes that are meant to be destroyed and returning them into circulation?
No, too risky for little, breach CBK strong rooms or de LA rue for small denomination (I assume since its rural) bulky notes. Most likely its cash from those Shylocks who always pray on mama mbogas.

I think the money is just circulating and no one is taking it to the bank where it can be detained, before being taken back to central bank for destruction.

Kenya still retains poor colonial like style of currency design it’s lifespan is around 6 years for the lower denominations.

With the dawn of the new katiba, we were to have new currency without portraits of Presidents and therefore there has been no point of printing new ones with the old design. Sasa tendering dragged it’s feet kiasi, Njoroge alisema hadi 2017 juu cord zikatoka next year watapiga kelele.
