Yes, she has to peel potatoes to make mukimo or gitowero, githeri etc. Kikuyu’s staple starch is potato, not maize.

Kikuyu ni kama mzungu. The british, irish, dutch, germans etc staple starch is also potato. Ukienda europe, mzungus eat potato not ugali/maize.

eg:
British mashed potato and peas

German schnitzel with mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus, fried egg, and mushroom sauce.

National dish of Ireland - potato, beef and bread.

Most popular food in Britain - fish and chips

Kikuyu traditional land is the cool highlands, what is called temperate climate and it is the same climate in europe. Potatoes do well in those temperate areas both in kikuyuland and europe. That is why the main food of kikuyus and mzungus is potato.

yes dickson mzungu and co took rounds with waithera under the mugumo tree while dedan was away in the detention camp. hence the brown skin @Azor_Ahai types.another thing Waithera used to cook for mzungu so she also cooked for kina sokwetu such types of foods as she was accustomed to and got introduced to potatoes by mzungu. its very simple

More european food and you can see ni kama ya kikuyu with lots of potato and thufu/soup/stew.

Europeans also eat alot of cabbage and carrots, peas with their potato just like kikuyu. Cabbages and carrots, peas also do well in temperate climates.

The luo call the Kikuyu “Jarabuon” which means “the people of the potato”. Kikuyus were eating potato before mzungu akuje.

This meal in a top london restaurant is the same meal being eaten in many kikuyu homes in the village.

fyi carrots minji green peas and french beans too were also introduced by the white settlers . Traditional kikuyus used to eat honey nduma ngwaci igwa vegetables milk and meat in special occasions… tafadhali wacha upuzi bro. hizo zote umepost ni food za wazungu

Kikuyu mashed potato (mukimo) is superior to ya mzungu because kikuyu add peas, beans, pumpkin leaves (kahurura) to the mashed potato but mzungu only add butter to the mash.

Switzerland mashed potato, peas and sausage.

Kikuyu mashed potato (mukimo) and beef. Kikuyu eat better than mzungu.
