Kenya discovers more oil, Energy CS CharlesKeter set to give details at 11am.

The black gold is the cause of all wars. There is nothing to celebrate here.
I’ll start drilling in kitengela immediately
Huyo jamaa will go shine his eyes on that land and oil kickbacks, by the next GE he will be mbirrionare like us
Why do they always put a lot of emphasis on exporting the damned thing. Or they are trying hard to make Kenya be like Nigeria. Export crude and import refined?
I thought this guy is not fit for office.
Liberalised economy, if no one wants to put up a refinery, government has no choice and I’m against the ministry of energy investing my tax shillings in building one and running it inefficiently such that it will always require more tax payer shillings to keep it afloat
Hii mambo ya oil sometimes huwa sielewi. Nigeria is a leading oil producer yet there is fuel shortage in the country
Africa Oil Corp. has beaten him to the punch. The well encountered an interval of over 700m of oil shows, meaning this well is not commercial but it shows there maybe some oil in the area
Looking at the current price of crude i doubt oil deserves the term black gold
You know there are reservoirs whose cost of production is under US $5, hawa wakiuza at 30 wako kwa biz mbaya
Which ones are these?
i think Guiness should take that title, chupa ya guiness ni 200 bob
What do you think will pay for Eurobond?

we statesman saa tano ishaafika…
where are the details?
Tullow oil said Kenyan oil in Turkana and now today in Eldama Ravine will be cheap to extract, transport and since its good quality easily marketable. 3 independent oil major consultant firm are working with Tullow-Government of Kenya to make the final plan for the oil extraction. With todays announcement it increases the viability and profit margins for Kenyan oil. Remember ngamia oil had net oil pay of only 100 meters compared to todays announced 700 meters of oil pay. Africa Oil and Tullow have justified its management decision to continue oil exploration in Kenya despite stopping in all other areas globally. The likelihood of a refinery in Turkana gains momentum with other oil fields pumping crude there in smaller pipelines for refinery. The cost of building a heated pipeline to transport crude oil to Lamu port is almost the same as building a refinery. Value addition is key and the future oil upstream development player will always pick the most profitable long term solution. A normal refined oil pipeline like for Kenya Pipeline is a fraction of that cost with added advantage that it will supply the local market first at very cheap rate and save our economy. We wouldn’t need Uganda oil to pass through Kenya anymore. Total ceo showed up in Uganda during the campaigns and all of a sudden the pipeline moves to Tanzania where Total has natural gas blocks, money talks. He next went to Tanzania, Magufuli okayed it and now you know no one is uncorruptable just whats your amount. Toyota Tsusho corporation did a feasibility study for the regional oil pipelines and the uganda-tanga was the most expensive after the uganda-malaba-eldoret-nairobi-mombasa. Cheapest was holima-turkana-lamu with alot of 20-50km straight lines. The ultimate query that Total will find hard to convince the joint partner China oil is cost. if the pipeline passes through Kenya, then the advantage is Kenya is able to give infrastructural investment guarantee and insurance on the pipeline on its territory and reduce the construction cost further. Tanzania pipeline doesn’t have bill of quantities because its hasnt been mapped out and they dont even have the ball park figures to work with let alone give guarantees.
long queues at the gas stations
Nigeria extreme successive corrupt regimes have only been interested in million dollar oil bribes month after month and gave oil major free hand in its oil industry. All crude oil in Nigeria is exported for refinery abroad. Nigeria in turn imports refined oil at world market price for domestic use. Federal government isn’t proactive in spreading development at the marginalized oil region. The devolved states are not any better so the local community is still fucked. The only development is CSR projects by oil companies that is not enough. The advantage in Kenya is that oil discovery came at a good time. The mining bill 2015 is almost at the third reading and voting at the senate then national assembly. It will affect the oil funds to be distributed fairly as well as set open transparent standards to be followed. local community within 25Km get 5% after cost of oil, 5% Nema incase of future oil spills and environment disaster, 15% county government, 25% shared among 46 other counties and 50% national government. Government of Kenya has also en-marked National oil as the parent company to led the Kenya oil industry. The final oil major who will buyout tullow-africa oil and invest in upstream-downstream development must seed significant shareholding to National oil despite not putting any financing. National oil staff will be trained to take part in all job aspects in the production. This was National Oil will finally have completed its mandate to provide cheap oil and gas countrywide. Ministry of Energy will jointly publish all data of oil production monthly for verification by various stakeholders.
Sycophant amesema mafuta imepatikana kerio valley.
Cheptuket 1 at Kerio Valley, Elgeyo Marakwet County as confirmed by their Senator Murkomen . Tullow has been hoping that the Turkana oil is interlinked with oil reserves from the Kerio valley and this might prove it. If it confirms an oil aquifer is in existance then Kenya will have hit the jackpot. Credit to Tullow, of the 30+ out of the mandatory 60 exploration wells they have drilled for 100’s of millions of dollars their success rate if over 60%. One of their best decision was subcontracting a revolutionary chinese 3D survey firm to map out their blocks. The final oil development field plan delays every 3 months since more oil is found and they have to adjust the reports, recommendation and decision favorably. Today the residents are having a good day apart from the oil find, President Uhuru and Deputy President Ruto are commissioning the 2 Billion Chemususu dam and launching a water supply distribution project that will serve 350,000 residents.
