An open letter to President Uhuru from a Kikuyu hawker in Nyamakima, downtown Nairobi

[li]1 week ago[/li][/ul]
Am 32 years old now. I have lived in Kenya the whole of my life. I didn’t come from a rich family but I have struggled my way up….started an import business in Nyamakima Nairobi back in 2008. I was importing goods from CHINA & Dubai since then. My business did well, bought my first car, build a house, supported many upcoming entrepreneurs to make their first million and even educated my siblings from it. But when UHURU & RUTO came into power things started taking a nosedive in my business. Revenue declined drastically……I used to make about Kshs 5Million in a bad month and upto Kshs 7-10Million in a good month in the years 2009-2015 Net Revenue. Biz was good then.

But from 2016 upto now….getting even Kshs 1Million in month is a struggle…NB: THIS is gross revenue not NET Revenue……ukiweka rent ya all my shops na my office, staff salaries & other expenses, my friends at the end of the month I usually remain as broke as a church mouse….sometime the church mouse is richer than me coz kuna sadaka.
Now am contemplating closing all my shops and offices. I have about 250 employees who benefit from me directly in form of monthly salaries, about 730 independent sale agents countrywide and over 1000 families benefiting from my business directly every month.

It’s a pity….am closing down my business…A business I have done for the last 10 years. I can’t afford to run it any longer. Thanks to UHURUTO Government. Business Environment is no longer favourable. Am a wholesaler, I used to supply most of my retailers on credit and they would pay comfortably within 30 days and I supply them with more stocks. Now as we are taking most of my retailers have not paid me 10 months down the line. After 2017….Business collapsed. My retailers are not paying me their debts….They tell me that their customers are not paying too. Most of them have closed shop. The few remaining are struggling even to put bread on the table.

Now I have my clients owing me debts over Kshs 87 Million. They want to pay me but most can’t manage due to the prevailing business environment. For that result, I can’t manage to raise money to import more stocks. The last stock I did import from China…last year October, I borrowed money from a Local bank. When the consignment reached at the port of Mombasa, it’s was declared counterfeits by KRA. NB: Its has all certification by KEBS even their Agent in China. The cargo was impounded. Now the bank has given me 14 days NOTICE to vacate my own house, they wan’t to Auction it since I used it as collateral. REASON…I did not pay my loan. I have a young family…My wife and 2 children…tutaenda wapi.
Thanks UHURU and your government for putting me down financially. Am a KIKUYU just like you. I used to do well before you came in power, now am on the road to poverty.
Thanks UHURU

Because of that, am starting a REVOLUTION to remove you from power. The hashtag for this movement will be #UhuruOutofStateHouse. By killing my business, you also killed my SOUL which was my source of livelihood and the pillar to my manhood. This is a business I loved, and struggled to build from the scratch and run it for the last 10 years successfully.

For that reason alone, I do not fear to die. I don’t want to become a President and I have no such ambition whatsover. All I want is to see a President who is ready to fight corruption and improve the business environment for us entrepreneurs.
Consequently, Am ready to die for for others to achieve this Economic Freedom. Kindly Send all your troops……DCI, Police, GSU, NIS & KDF. Tell them to KILL & silence me. But I assure you that within 12 months from now, you will be out of power. #BloodlessCoup

It’s Well with my Soul

Napita tu.

What will he do,he has some entitlement tone and probably he was importing those fake counterfeit products.
Am not sanitizing Ohuru

Everyday i peruse these pages and wonder if no one can just tap the man on the hill to just wake up, but no one is willing to.

The moment this rhetoric comes up, someone will call a fellow countryman lazy not knowing what the person’s even do with their life.

Well, one of this fine day i will just look down from my office and will see running battles in the CBD, its almost inevitable now. If you are a leader, lead by strides that show you are in charge.

You want Kenyans to chose better leaders, then follow chapter 6 to the latter, applies to all state officers, anything short of that Kenyans will have no options but use the streets.

Finally, i dont believe thar letter up there but it sure paints half truths on state of the economy. Sth aint just adding up, we are flying but rudderless.

hii ni @KeleleZa Chura . ati start revolution and we have twitter armies(kama ni revolution kwa twitter ill say yes "… FERK!!! Wajaluo could have started revolution but you ferkers in the Jubilee movement made fun of them , basi wamenyamaza. Kuleni viburi zenu. Lets see if jubilee maggots can start a revolution … im waiting

My bags are already packed for Uganda where I have a modest 1 acre though undeveloped. It is a short 15km from my rural home. Kikiumana, my sister has a farm in Tanzania and my brother in law has expressed willingness to host me given my industrious nature. Wakenya wenzangu mjipange.

@magreb yaani ni uchokoze halafu uhepe?

Uthuraku thuraku ni gutee piu.
Am for WSR hadi mwicho

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind¶

Peter, Paul and Mary.

mleta mada a’ache kujisumbua na exports eti imports badae eti retailers hawalipi, siku hizi form ni kuuza towels pahali wanatarajia kujenga dam ama uza hewa pale nys, utajirike pap.

Fake letter up there that aims to show that all kikuyus are suffering more than everybody else in kenya.

This is exactly what they were doing flooding the country with counterfeit goods and avoiding the taxman

I sometimes think it’s all a joke. I live in a place that is a little 15 - 20 minutes walk from the main stage. Ni kama kutoka Wakulima market terminus to GPO. Most of my neighbours that don’t have cars take the Bodaboda and pay 50/= to the main stage where they take the matatu to town. When coming back home they do the same thing again. That’s 100/=
When I see this and hear people are complaining that things are hard I wonder if it’s true.
I think Uhuru and company are seeing the amounts of money Kenyans are spending on luxury items such as cigarettes and alcohol and wasteful habits such as fast foods and sports gambling and therefore they know Kenyans can afford to lose some more.
If you cook your food at home the cost of the meal could be as little as 70bob but if you buy your food ready cooked the cost is over 150 bob in the low end eateries and as high as 350 in the average joints.
I’m not defending Uhurunomics policy of borrowing money and wasting/stealing it. I’m just saying that some Kenyans waste money then complain that life is hard

armchair cowards

Wacha zako wewe hata charcoal sai sio 70 bob…ama unapika na nini?

Tabia ya wakenya ya ku-complain goes back to the seventies when the christened a vegetable sukuma wiki and a musician (Gabriel Omolo) composed a song called Lunch Time. It is easy to conclude that it is the nature of kenyans to complain.

You still use charcoal mwalimu? You must be caught in a time warp juu hata watu slum walihamia meko coz the cost of charcoal tangu ngilu achome lorry haijarudi chini,

That is oversimplifying a very complex matter. You don’t expect office workers to waste 20 min in the morning, do you? Halafu office ya nani utaingia na jasho na vumbi asubuhi? The less said of alcohol the better. For me, drinker fall into four broad categories. The first one is composed of tenderprenuers and corrupt civil servants who don’t drink their sweat. The second is composed of those who drink as a coping mechanism. The third consists of henpecked husbands waiting for their wives to sleep before they trotter home. The last one is what we may categorise as social drinkers who take one for the road. Now to lump all this groups into one and condemn them as possessing disposable income worth robbing is just too simplistic methinks.

They would if they didn’t have the money, wouldn’t they?

I use electricity mwalimu…but what do villagers use…that was the question. I can authoritatively state here that most of my vihiga villagers use kerosene…i would be lying if i told you that i know the price, but i dont think it’s so cheap that one would exclude it from daily budget.

mavi ya ng’ombe.
