GITUGI GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL is one of the Schools in Kenya to have installed CCTV systems. I think this is an [COLOR=rgb(41, 105, 176)]infringement of the human rights of the students when a school decides to install CCTV in every corner of the school from classrooms to dormitories.
One can’t live life fully in an environment where you are being watched. As much as the school management wants the best from the students, putting them under surveillance just doesn’t make sense. Feels like students are forced to live like people in asylums. The head teacher could be lazy or lacks basic management skills.
I prefer using surveillance for security purpose but not monitoring students!
nishawahi sema mwafrika hajui kudevelop shule. Africans think schools are concentration camps because they adopted the militaristic colonial system without question. Most rural schools still have children wearing khaki bush fatigues in the name of decent clothes.
uniforms, boarding schools, cctvs etc and people are complaining that young people are unable to adapt to real living. What do they expect?
where is line drawn when it comes to rights, kunazo kwa club, bank hata hosii. When it comes to security, you cannot second guess and when its safety of our kids in school,i’d say weka cctv kila mahali, kids get bullied or worse, raped,by own colleagues and no one comes forward not even the teachers,so yes ,if it infringes the perpetrators devious deeds …weka hadi mbili ,moja ya kuangalia kama camera ingine inafanya kazi yake
No wonder I felt like I had just broken out of prison when I completed my KCSE. There are very many similarities between Kenyan Schools, especially boarding schools, and prisons.
