A 26-year-old man from Miharati Village in Kipipiri Constituency, Nyandarua County is nursing head injuries after his wife, 23, hammered him on the head while he was asleep.
Peter Ngugi has since sought refuge at a centre which looks into the welfare of men. The facility is located in Limuru, Kiambu County.
Ngugi was attacked on Monday night by his wife, Ruth Wangui, who has since fled their matrimonial home.
Ngugi says he suspected his wife was cheating on him, and when he confronted her, she got wild.
The father-of-one says his wife waited until he began sleeping, when she attacked him.
Ngugi claims Wangui hit him six times on the head with a hammer, and when he raised an alarm, she fled upon seeing neighbours approaching their home.
Ngugi was rushed to a nearby hospital in Nyandarua, where he was treated and discharged.
He claims his wife returned to their home, when he was in hospital, and packed every household item before moving out.
Ngugi was referred to the Kiambu centre, which looks into the welfare of men.
He has urged the police to arrest Wangui and charge her with assault.
