At least four people have been killed in Saturday morning’s shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, according to a city official.

The shooter surrendered to Pittsburgh police and was being transported to Mercy Hospital, said Curt Conrad, chief of staff for City Councilman Corey O’Connor.
Another law enforcement official told CNN at least 12 people have been shot.

Three police officers were shot, officials said earlier at an impromptu press conference. It’s unclear if they are part of those casualties.

“There are fatalities,” said Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.

Police respond to the shooting Saturday at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh police Cmdr. Jason Landopreviously said there were “multiple casualties.” Officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving reports of active gunfire at the synagogue, he said.

“It is imperative that the neighbors in the community surrounding the Tree of Life synagogue stay in their houses and shelter in place,” Lando said. “Do not come out of your home right now. It is not safe.”

Fred Rabner, a member of the synagogue, said it was a “close-knit community,” and that everyone was calling around to make sure their loved ones are OK.

“Everyone is just shaken up and upset,” Rabner said. “It’s awful, it’s just awful.”

Tree of Life synagogue

The Tree of Life synagogue is a Conservative Jewish congregation, according to its website. It’s in Squirrel Hill, a historic Jewish neighborhood.

The synagogue has a Shabbat service at 9:45 a.m. Saturdays, the website said.

Officials near the scene of the shooting in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
Michael Eisenberg, the immediate past president of the Tree of Life congregation, said three congregations – Tree of Life, New Light and Dor Hadash – would have been holding simultaneous services in the building.

There would usually would be about 40 people attending the Tree of Life service in the “main part of the building,” Eisenberg said. In the basement below, New Light’s service would also have about 30 to 40 people. And the Dor Hadash congregation in the rabbi’s study room would have about 15 people, he said.

President Donald Trump tweeted he was aware of the situation in Pittsburgh and that law enforcement was on the scene.

“People in Squirrel Hill area should remain sheltered,” Trump said. “Looks like multiple fatalities. Beware of active shooter. God Bless All!”

Drumpf enthusiastically brought out these primitive instincts. Now America pays… People are begging Obama to come back.

Oh they bleed too ?

God help anybody in America who is not mzungu if democrats win the majority seats in congress and senate in the coming elections. Kutawaka muoto

Trump says shooting would be different if synagogue had an armed guard

Speaking to reporters, President Donald Trump said that the shooting had “little to do” with gun laws and that the shooter could have been stopped if the synagogue had armed protection.

“This has little to do with (gun laws) if you take a look,” Trump said when asked about gun rights. “If they’d had protection inside, the result would have been a lot better.”

“Maybe it could have been a very much different situation,” he added.

He suggested that holy places might want to consider armed protection.

“They had a maniac walk in and they didn’t have any protection and that is just so sad to see,” he said. “The results could have been much better.”

He also said that people like this should receive the death penalty and called for its heightened use.

“I think they should very much bring the death penalty into vogue,” he said.

Like CNN you are stuck at Trump. Zile mass shooting zote zilitokea wakati wa Obama so ni Obama ali-“enthusiastically bring out the primitive instincts” that time? Chieth.

Has the gunman been found?

Kikes

Against Jews, not really. Jews have been targeted for years. I know of one Jewish community center that always has several marked police cars blocking the entrances whenever they have events (which is almost every other day!).

No way!

I’m sure you’re on Twitter. Follow Obama.

Note that he can’t come back unless he pulls a museveni.

Have you ever asked yourself why they have the police cars? Trumps base hates blacks, Arabs, Jews, Latinos and all other non-caucasians. They are all fair game in the annihilation of unwanted races.

My point was that this hatred has and probably will always be there. Drumpf is on record advocating violence on his political opponents, and this has undoubtedly emboldened them to come out of their shells.
