The US and South korea armies are currently conducting a massive military exercises. They say they ‘‘are the largest ever’’. The aim is to show off their military might in order to be feared by North Korea. The message is: ‘‘we are practicing how to attack you with these hardware that you are seeing’’. North korea has called the exercises reckless and provocative.
The US and South korea say the exercises are non provocative but deterrent.
The U.S. general in charge of Saturday’s amphibious assault exercises insisted the drills were not related to the latest spike in tensions.
“We’ve been planning for this exercise for over a year,” said Brigadier General John Jansen of the U.S. Marines.
But, he added that the exercises should also serve as a deterrent to North Korea.
“At the end of the day, we sincerely believe in peace through strength, and it is in the strength of our alliance that we believe that we can deter and avoid war.”
While there are problems in the North, there is a massive propaganda about the country. The propaganda is driven by US, which primarily the owner of world media, the UN, and the internet.
The north, and every country for that matter, has a right to nuclear weapons.
I hope to one day visit N. Korea briefly; I am fascinated by such places , there are agencies that arrange for such tours but you first have to stop over in China where a N. Korean govt. minder will be sent to accompany you from there
I don’t get how a country that has instigated numerous wars for selfish reasons and at one point even dropped atomic bombs gets to dictate who is dangerous or not.
Israel even assisted the apartheid S.A government to get nuclear weapons chini ya maji of course with the tacit approval of USA and U.K. They de-commissioned them just before Mandela became president
