North korea in the news again

News coming out of pyongyang suggest that the paranoid and somehow “unstable” north korean leader who by the way has nuclear launch codes is set to test fire a missile that has kept the whole of the korean peninsula and its neighbours on the edge of their seats, this comes hot on the heels after he succesfully tested a hydrogen bomb recently. It should be noted that the two koreans have been engaged in propaganda war since after a ceasefire was agreed in the 50s. North korea has the 4th largest army in the world and its border with the south is also the most militarized complete with mines and razor wire among other weapons. If it were to attack the south it would take only few hours for its infantry to walk the streets of seoul but the US would protect the south with its all just like it does with israel and its intention to stand with the south was recently showcased when it flew its B52 bomber over the south recently. Japan has also deployed its defence system to shoot down any missile that violates its air space. Traditional north korea allies like china and russia have expressed displeasure at the intented missile test. I hope for the day there would be a reunification of the two koreas just like germany but i dont think it will happen in our lifetime!

nothing america touches and ever becomes the same again.
american arent in seoul to protect the south koreans but just to make their big competitors japan, china and russia uncomfortable…
do you remember how they reacted when russia tried to set up military bases in cuba?

I wonder how the dynamics would if ussr had stayed united

nothing much would have changed.
the ussr(the one with the nukes is still intact), us can never mess with moscow because of MAD .
it might not be a super power per se but still a big power house and a global player.

The soviet republics had different interests na pia economically, they couldn’t compete globally. And to imagine Russia is still the biggest country in the world in terms of territory, the USSR must have been very big.
