The government is planning to increase NHIF payments for people earning above 100k.

NHIF is a service, not a tax. Why are they using people’s income to price it?

NHIF is an insurance service. Premiums in the insurance industry are calculated based on RISK not income.

Hustler’s government is planning to shaft Kenyans (middle class) by treating NHIF like a tax instead of a service. Your risk of getting ill does not increase based on your income, why should you pay more??

The real problem at NHIF is mismanagement, not low premiums. This is a clever way of stealing from the middle class through the backdoor.

I dumped that crap called NHIF long ago. Unalipa 500 kila mwezi alafu ukienda hosi unaambiwa inalipia consultation pekee. Lab tests na dawa uko pekee yako. Na ati bado unachaguliwa hospitali ya kuenda. Ujinga wa hali ya juu. Kama we si civil servant achana tu nayo. Naskia bado civil servants NHIF inawapiga kitu sawa sawa. NHIF is another robbery scam.

Wacha ku panic, it might translate better services. More revenue collected more services and packages for the simple mwananchi. Makes no sense someone earning 1m deducted only 1,700/- while all the rest in employment earning below 100,000 per month are computed at 1.7%. if this money is properly utilized, and fraud minimized it can be the best cover, ata many will abandon their private covers. This is a social insurance scheme, the only way to improve services is increasing the revenue collection base. Bado watu wanalalamika they want better services but hawataki kuogeza pesa, na serikali pia haisaidii the institution.

Minimize the fraud first then implement this new rates. As it stands now, NHIF doesn’t have the capacity to manage the ‘little’ they’re collecting.
