It’s perfectly obvious Magufuli has chosen to save his economy. He has outwardly stated that he won’t lock down Dar which is the epicenter in TZ. He criticized the way reports of positive cases were being carried out and he was afraid it would bring fear into his citizens and hence affect the economy. He spoke of how his Health ministry was dwelling on reporting only negatives and not positives i.e recoveries, that’s why just a day later his health minister has stopped reporting on new cases and suddenly 37 people have recovered. In a few days 100 more people will be reported to have recovered and there will soon be “no cases” in Tanzania. People will have no fear to go to work and their morale will be boosted, while in reality community transmissions are multiplying. It’s a very stupid tactic which unfortunately Tanzanians will easily fall for and I’m afraid it’s going to hit hard on them.

We care about you since you are our brothers and neighbors. Remember that we don’t just share a border and a region but also the same DNA. The tribes in Kenya and in Tanzania are the same. Let me give you a few examples:

  1. There are Maasai in Kenya and also in Tanzania.
  2. There are Luos in both countries.
  3. There are Kurias in both countries.
  4. The Agikuyu of Kenya are almost similar to Chaggas in tz.
  5. We have Ameru in both countries.
    In short, we can’t stand and watch while Tanzania people expose themselves to Covid-19 carelessly because if this scourge escalates in your country, it will spill over into Kenya. If Tanzania is adversely affected by the scourge, even its neighbours will bear the brunt.
