Police officers guarding him and those assigned to his security detail have been withdrawn.
This follows a recent incident at Kabuchai where armed attackers allegedly waylaid him during a rally, damaged his vehicles, and also struck the home of Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga.
Natembeya says he was fired at several times during the attack.
He has blamed National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, accusing him of using state power to pursue political grudges.
While checking the destruction at Kalasinga’s home, Natembeya described the incident as “barbaric” and said leaders should not resort to sending thugs over political disputes.
