I read the story of how one parcel of land was registered under different owners being an individual and two companies. The land was used as security to borrow loans from Equity Bank, Cooperative Bank and CBA to the tune of over 400m. The loans were not repaid and the interests spiralled upwards. The banks are now in a tussle over who should auction the land to recover their monies. What is surprising is that somehow the same piece of land was registered under different persons and so the encumbrances on the plot did not show during the charging process. Problem with kenyans, especially common mwananchi is to assume that you can break the law and walk scot-free. It doesn’t work like that. The billionaires who stole or committed big crimes are only protected by power or/and money. They live with anxiety. Break the law but be prepared to spend money bribing law enforcement officers or face the law!
