To know Nairobi is to know the history behind things and names we see and hear today.
Some names are hard to even know where they came from.
Kayole, Dandora, Kariobangi, Embakassi, Buru Buru are tough to even decipher.
Suggest answers to some of these estate names.
Some are easy to know their roots e.g. Jericho, Jerusalem (biblical places) Makongeni, Kaloleni, Pangani (sound like they have Pwani swahili roots) Donholm, Eastleigh (English colonizers roots).

Roysambu: Roysambu is a suburb along the Thika superhighway in Nairobi City County. The place was known as “Royal Suburbs” during the colonial times. However the Africans in Nairobi pronounced it as Roy-Sabu and thus it got the name “Roysambu”.
Embakasi
Embakasi/Mbagathi (Em-pakasi) is a river. Em-pakasi oo lera is the Maa for Athi River, meaning “the Acacia lined river”.
Donholm Estate
Donholm was previously a dairy farm known still as Donholm Estate, and named after Glasgow’s Donholm Estate where its previous owner, James Kerr Watson, hailed from.
Dohnolm derives its name from one of Kenya’s pioneer dairy farms which occupied the land from City Stadium all the way to where the current Donholm estate sits.
Watson had named his farm Donholm – inspired by an estate that had a similar name in Scotland’s Glasgow city where he grew up from.
Kayole is a masaai name of maybe a person… Hahha pronounced “kaaahh-yowleeh”

KARIAKOR - Several East African towns have quarters named after the carrier corps presumably because members of the corps were given housing in these places. Such quarters include “Kariakor” in Nairobi and quarters called “Kariakoo” in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma.
