Nakuru KCSE candidate dies two hours before writing maths paper

(So sad)
A KCSE candidate collapsed and died in Nakuru North on Monday, barely two hours to the start of the national exams.

Francis Gikonyo, a student of Jomo Kenyatta High school, had been rushed to the area’s district hospital after he was found to be sick.

School principal John Mureithi said he was taken to the hospital at about 6am.

“The student had a chat with medics before collapsing and dying,” he said, adding he died from hypertension.

Mureithi said Gikonyo had been in and out of school for the better part of the year.

“It is very unfortunate that we lost a young and brilliant boy who had a bright future,” he said.

He added that the boy’s parents were informed of his death and counselors invited to break the news to his classmates.

The exam kicked off on Monday with candidates writing their first mathematics paper.
