Nairobi's pedestrian crossing zones

Manze mbona kenyans huwa na ugumu ya kuwachia pedestrians wapite kwa zebra crossing???..especially kwa vitongoji duni areas…Yani niko kwa crossroad but bado nachill gari zipite for 7 good minutes(yeah i timed it)…is this among weaknesses of capitalism au??..pissed

Could you be the same buggers who force their way through the Zebra crossing when you are signalled with a Red?
That’s the same way we feel as motorists, dont complain

huku ni mwenye nguvu mpishe. Even big buses intimidate small cars irrespective of whether or not they have the right of way.

I always let pedestrians cross but some pedestrians can be a real pain in the ass. Unapata mtu anacross polepole ni kama anaenda arusi…alafu I think pedestrians should wait and cross in groups especially on highways to make the process safer and more orderly.

No…i always chill…mostly a max of 3 minutes gari huwa zimeisha…but leo notably nimengoja 7 minutes…at times you find good motorists wanasimama AS THEY SHOULD(i mean theres alway a crossroad sign a few metres to the crossroad itself)…

One thing that Tanzania got so right is their road culture. When I was there was informed to stop like 3 metres before a pedestrian crossing even if you don’t spot any pedestrian. We in the middle of nowhere unapata pedestrian crossing you switch your hazards ons, stop about 3 metres away and wait for at least 5 seconds before proceeding. That’s the protocol irrespective of whether you spot an actual pedestrian or not. Failure to do it you risk huge spot fines. Kwa hiyo maneno wametupita sana.

kwa highways sawa…and it turns out motorists kwa highway are keen on observing zebra crossing…but visirani ziko huku mtaani outering…wah…iyo kama anaenda harusi is relative coz mtu anaeza kuwa mgonjwa au elderly…unataka adu?

Ukibuy gari kama mimi utajua venye kustop mtu anatembea apite hufeel kama madharau. Pambana na hali yako.

i pray for such a day wakati there will be such fines hapa kwetu.kwanza matatu watatii amri vizuri

Waria rudi Tz. Usisumbue to sisi.

its a given right…mbona ukiwa harambee huwa haudisobey traffic lights alafu huambie other motorists wapambane na hali yao?? ama unadharau pedestrian juu ya status…ata sisi saa zingine huwa motorists (ata kama ni car hire)

It’s all over Europe… In Norway any person approaching a cross walk you have to give way… As long as amekaribia zebra you have to let them pass no nego… Its now part of the culture… Pedestrians and drivers have adapted… Cyclists… Well those fuckers…

There’s nothing to do with capitalism , it’s lack of order and being stupid. It doesn’t matter if you drive or walk, these stupid people will even hoot at you if you stop at the red light, consider Kenya a failed state. Where simple road rules and ethics do not work.
