When you drill you have to apply for a permit . Never used to happen back in the days but devolution created a new league of monsters. Never heard about renewing permits and think that’s what they want, something like an annual permit . They want to tax your borehole, seed and equipment and produce

All boreholes have consumption metres & several permits must be obtained before drilling one. That’s not the case with shallow wells.

Hope you are not confusing shallow wells ( manually dug) & boreholes ( machine drilled).
