Mzungu Arrogance

Story of Bob Dylan winning Nobel Prze for literature shocked many. He was the first musician to ever be given this honor. He has given brief commentaries here and there but hasn’t officially responded or acknowledged this great prize. All that’s required of him in a few days is to give a speech in video or in Sweden but the arrogance and airs are just unfathomable. Dont forget he gets almost $1M too, which is probably not of importance to a man of his stature.

What pisses me off is that our kin Ngugi has missed out on this a few times. All of us rooting for him, butt cheeks clenched, only to be disappointed. Can you imagine how we would celebrate. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made a public holiday in honor of our great man. Many of you shiny eye will even claim to be relatives.

First time I read Ngugi’s books I felt like he was peeking at my soul. I can’t imagine what it did to people’s psyche when they devoured his pages in the days of couch potato raging phallus.

One day son of the soil, one day.

He probably believes the award is beneath him. After all he had accomplished a lot in his life. Probably Ngugi’s estate is a mere fraction to Dylans.

of course we are related

Hii ni news ya this week. Countdown ya kuenda Sweden inakaribia kuisha. Asipoenda in 6 months tangu Dec 10, hiyo pesa inakunywa maji alafu King wa Sweden anasema meffi yeye.

You are so behind. Ameaccept hiyo prize. Ali awardiwa in 2016.

This claiming so and so is a ‘kasin’ is a luopean thing. Can’t work for any other people. Does not just carry its weight.

Kuna formality ya acceptance. Hiyo ndio hajatekeleza ndio tunangoja.

Sawa basi. Alikuwa anangoja nini Huu Muda wote. My post still stands. Hiyo ni tweet ya leo.

Sio Arrogance if you bothered to do some basic research about the man you will learn he is simple and not fazed by such and probably felt he did not deserve the prize

There’s one thing to be simple and another to snub and be aloof. If it was that he could have accepted, donated all the money to charity. Some things it is all about humility.

That Ngugi is a great writer is not in question…but why do you need validation from the white man via Nobel? Unakumbuka our own Maathai who we only celebrated when she won the same…b4 alikuwa tuu…

I read Ngugi’s Devil on the cross and my word, that guy is a real genius.

Ngugi is overrated. miguna is a better writer

Its not arrogance. He is actually very humbled. I think he said that what he does for a living did not warrant him winning the Nobel. Think of he Nobel first and then the prize money after. Most Nobel winners do not even think of the money.
Ngugi has two sides. He peculiarly went quiet when a certain group assumed power in the country.

The Nobel is a validation of art, science and peace mainly. It has a rich history of awarding under cognized geniuses and heros of such. Its not a validation by a white man. Its funny Maathai was not a hero to many in his country and was mainly viewed as a pest until she won the award. Some of the same haters are today in power top positions.
