My TV search is over!

Wadau, this is a continuation from my earlier thread https://kenyatalk.com/t/tvs-2024-models/549387?u=levoyeur when I was looking for a worthy replacement from my aging Sony Bravia Led tv.
Niliingia kijiji, youtube, forums pale kama avforums, flatpanels, rtings etc. research lazima! for a 75inch as an upgrade from previous 50inch sababu the space can accommodate the size & distance from sitting area ni mbali kidogo. Qled was initial consideration factor, port inputs ziwe HDMI 2.1 more than 2, 120Hz refresh rate etc. Nilipitia some weekends China Square TCL, Hotpoint, Anisuma, Opalnet showrooms kujionea kwa mecho what hizo brands can offer…TCL was better than Hisense zile niliona especially kwa design, features na pic quality. Problem TCL na Hisense kwa user forums ni complaints especially za panel failing, TV restarting after some months of use, for how much I was willing to spend Max 260K sikutaka kurisk na I heard warranty zao ni kuzungushwa…From LG I liked B4, C4 Oled, Samsung (QLed QN85D, OLed S90D, Sony (Bravia 8, A80L).
After some weeks za research tena, I saw hiyo budget haingetosha nikaamua ‘kuuma risasi’ . I went with the Samsung Oled S90D, reasons it was a 2024 model, best out of the options ranked by the most reviewers niliona hata pale Rtings, had the most features I wanted, input ports, 144Hz, QD(Quantum Dot) Oled etc. good value (screen size to price) compared to the C4, Bravia 8 & A80L was cheaper for the 77inch & had a better offer, plus of course the 2 Year warranty.
Ntaleta more reviews baadaye after setup ya kila kitu saa hii I’ve just concluded the picture settings, my best is ‘filmmaker mode’ for accurate color & pic quality reproduction. My usage case ni mostly 4K content(movies, tv shows, music, sports) streamed over IPTV na gaming, using it as a PC monitor occasionaly. Some samples…

Stand corrected it is not IPTV, I have a friend who uses some paid apps on his android Tv, anapata all live sports, latest movies, documentaries in FHD na 4K from different parts of the world. It works so well hana lag or downtime I want to have the same. Another I’m interested in is running a Plex setup.

Hapana, all that work ya nini sasa? Just a simple setup for good aesthetics, a good 9.1 or 11.2 Atmos sound bar will do…as much as I like the theatres, they sound great/the best, zinataka kazi. I really fell for the OLEDs, they were so superior to everything else, probably not a good financial decision hehe lakini pesa zitajiingiza kwingine usipotaka tu hata ujikaze vipi.

Leta uhondo, what app is that? I sign up chap chap.

Why plex? will you pay for the full thing? Jellyfin opensource and free has been great for me. Some elbow grease to configure it and you are good to go.

The apps were 2 1 for tv shows and sports the other for movies, can’t really remember the names but nilipata the installer’s contact problem is they were running
on Android TV, I am on Tizen OS but the installer says he’ll get the similar ones running on Tizen too. I will update once he is done.

I wanted you to buy the OLED screen from Sony but it’s ok with what you have bought. Enjoy elder

Tizen itakulimit tafta to firestick

@LeVoyeur will you say there is a massive d9ifference betwen the OLEDS and the Mini LEDs?

Chifu, Sony are outrageously expensive huku Kenya & you don’t get some models, Anisuma as their main dealer hawapeani discounts ovyo pia compared to other countries, also in reviews Bravia 8 vs S90D, Samsung offered more features & is rated slightly higher than the Bravia 8. This is the price of the Bravia 8 at 65inches, the S90D was significantly cheaper than the Sony while offering 77inch.

Depends ni MiniLed models from which Brand, forget hiyo hype ya Chinese models, the highly rated MiniLeds are like the Bravia 9, 7, Samsung QN85D etc. lower midrange ni pale the TCL & Hisense come in. Bravia 9 is the best MiniLed compared to an OLED it will offer at least 90%. You can see the difference when you put them side by side.

The @Nyamgondho alienda wapi

I stopped wasting money on tv after mtoto wa jirani kunivunjia screen. Nilikasirika for like 2 months ikabidi niendee the cheapest 32’ tv. Got lucky nikapata tv iko na HDR10. Only time nitawaste pesa is when I am looking for a projector. For me all tv are same especially ukipata moja iko na HDR10.

Hehe inaeleweka, sina vipiis running around expect if I have family visits that are very rare, I prefer going to them wherever they are. I was very green on TV technology after research kidogo na kujionea, I disagree hapa not all tvs are the same. Ukiwatch 4K HDR content on an OLED hutataka kurudia LCD led panel.

One of the videos that helped me in my research and final decision to go with QD Oled.
