If this had happened in Central, two enterprising youth would have put planks of wood across and started charging guys to cross over.

Happens all the time! In China, America, anywhere!
Now that it happened in Muhoroni, people are just staring, taking selfies and calling babu for help.

Hio haikuwa bridge, this type of failure called a “wash out”, mostly happens to circular culverts when the culvert is blocked or is unable to drain vast amounts of water. The same thing happened in Moyale some time back.
Now let me take this opportunity to pass some knowledge, ukijenga road, and you get to a point where you need to make water cross from one side to another, you have have to make a decision on the type of structure to use depending on the amount of water that is expected, the geology of the place, the width of the crossing e.t.c.
Now you can use either,

The difference between a bridge and a box culvert is a bridge is made up of abutment walls and a beam that spans between them therefore, no floor while a box culvert is a single structure having a floor, side walls and its roof.
thats budalangi
or kano plains…“the difference is the same”…
Babu had to feature somewhere in this discussion. Mmmh.
