Ati valid points? Are you high like he was?

How do you impose more taxes on people that are struggling to put food on the table? People that barely have money in their pockets.

He then states that the expenses to get the basic commodities (read - fuel) can be claimed and written off when one files taxes, which is true. But that is after the high cost of getting it to wanjiku (read -market) has already been passed down. How does wanjiku then recoup?

They’ve dug themselves so much into a hole and are struggling to stay afloat. Kenya is broke.

The way to dig themselves out of this in the long-term is to grow the taxbase (through attracting businesses that can create employment for a majority of unemployed youth). Cut the red tape for investors willing to invest in Kenya to ease the hustle of doing business attractive to investors. Give tax breaks to FDI. Cut the energy costs, corruption and have people like Ruto stop stealing from government.

With a larger tax base, more people either employed or self employed will be generating some value in the economy that will see the revenue streams increase. This is not rocket science.

SGR was the worst idea ever, they were advised, they did not listen. Its just a matter of time before they cannot service their debt and the Chinese will want a pound of JKIA or the port in Mombasa. Ole wenu.

You elected this drunk as PORK. As they said, choices have consensequences, that are soon to be felt.

What does valid points mean? He spoke the bitter truth, for the government to achieve it’s development goals, money has to come from somewhere.

Don’t forget that a majority of Kenyans in the informal sector do not pay taxes. VAT is one of the ways to get them… Unless you have better ideas.
