Don’t you just love it when nature wins. It’s too bad what they did to the monkey though.
"An unidentified 36 year old man from Chelau Village in the Manipur Province in India is currently fighting for his life after his penis was ripped off by a monkey he was attempting to have sexual relations with. The man who is said to be from the lower caste of Hindu society was attempting to engage in a little known age old tradition called ‘Shahlzan Pahnyan’.

The unwed man is said to have trapped the monkey and brought it into his hut where he attempted the said act. Unknown to the man, the monkey he had trapped was a Lion Tailed Macaque. The Lion Tailed Macaque is one of the larger and stronger species of Monkeys in the Indian Subcontinent but is similar to smaller species such as the Nilgiri Langur and the Capped Langur which are the usual targets for this tradition.

Neighbours claim to have heard the man screaming and rushed to find the monkey dashing from the house with something bloody in its hand. It wasn’t until they inspected the bleeding man that they realized what the monkey had been carrying.
The man was rushed to the Manipur general hospital where he is currently in critical condition. The monkey was also tracked and killed but the organ was not found and is believed to have been lost in the tall grass between the village and the surrounding forest.
Shahlzan Pahnyan is a custom where member of the lower caste of society would have sex with monkeys as a way of connecting with the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman.

It was once thought that doing this will rid the person of bad luck. This tradition has mostly been done away with but is said to still be practiced in certain parts of Manipur and Kerala."
