In 24yrs, there was relative calm. You can develop all you want, but if you cannot foster peace among the people yu govern, the ādevelopmentā you bring about can go down like a pack of dominoes like it nearly happened a decade ago.

I do agree with you there. He kept Raila in complete checkā¦even jailing the guy when the need arose. Now when he retired and Kibaki let him loose, 2007 happened! and again in the near future (hopefully I am wrong on this)

Yea, he even did well in rendering Matiba a cabbage, Koigi and Wanyiri Kihoro refugees and many other directionless leaders, because if he did not, the country wouldāve burnt down.
