THE PRESIDENT: Until people come to their senses, we will build it up. Until people come to their senses. Russia has not adhered to the agreement. This should’ve been done years ago. Until people come to their senses — we have more money than anybody else, by far. We’ll build it up. Until they come to their senses. When they do, then we’ll all be smart and we’ll all stop. And we’ll — and by the way, not only stop, we’ll reduce, which I would love to do. But right now, they have not adhered to the agreement.

QUESTION: Is that a threat to Vladimir Putin?

THE PRESIDENT: It’s a threat to whoever you want. And it includes China, and it includes Russia, and it includes anybody else that wants to play that game. You can’t do that. You can’t play that game on me.

QUESTION: You want more nukes is what you’re saying? You’re building up the nuclear arsenal.

THE PRESIDENT: Until people get smart. Until they get smart. They have not adhered to the spirit of that agreement, or to the agreement itself — Russia. China is not included in the agreement. They should be included in the agreement. Until they get smart, there will be nobody that’s going to be even close to us.

QUESTION: But have you talked to Putin about it?

THE PRESIDENT: No, I have not. I have not.

QUESTION: The Russians say they’ve been complying.

THE PRESIDENT: I don’t have to speak to him. I don’t have to speak. I’m terminating the agreement because they violated the agreement. I’m terminating the agreement.

Russia is in violation because they were pushed to it. Bush unilaterally went against the ABM treaty and put up missile shields in Europe. Russia had to find a way to neutralize the shields.
Also note that Trump fails to mention Israel. Those racist bastards have nuclear missiles and will only be fair to bring them to the table. This will never happen because they will significantly lose ability to strike Iran.

Trump is playing into Putin’s hand. Given the distance between the US and Russia, intermediate range missiles are useless to the US. We all know how US defense industry works. This project will require billions of $ in research for weapons they don’t need. They will be useful if the US stations them in Europe. However, no European country is willing to host more US nuclear missiles as this will put them in Russia’s crosshairs. Putin said it, whoever will host them will be targeted. In fact, no European country is on board US’s withdrawal from the treaty. European citizens are smart (except the Turkish), they will protest till Kingdom come against any leader choosing to host these missiles.
Half of China’s nuclear missiles fall within the INF. Good luck getting them to sign a deal.
Russia will hugely benefit because they will finally be able to build land based missiles targeting Europe and China. Russia has border issues with China and were disadvantaged under the treaty if it ever came to blows.
No European leader is with Trump on this because, believe you me, missiles targeting Europe will be developed. Especially the noisy Eastern European countries and NATO. Have you wondered why Stoltenberg is also protesting?

People like to berate Reagan but this treaty was a genius move. It ensured potent and disturbing Soviet missiles like the SS-20 were dismantled. The Soviets had no idea the B2 was in secret development at the time which would make up for US’s dismantled missiles. Bolton was given a visa to Russia last week hoping he could blackmail Russia using the INF treaty. Walimcheka tu akarudi Washington na mayai kwa uso. This is exactly what Vlad wants. Russia’s strength is in missiles and Trump just handed her a super boost.

But personally I don’t support another nuclear race. I remember in the 90s how America and the U.N. had to run around the world trying to secure USSR nuclear armaments in the satellite states after the fall of the USSR, from falling into rogue hands.

They would find nuclear war heads and chemical and biological armaments of all manner and types stored in old sheds in rural Poland, Czekoslovakia and Ukraine. And guarded by an old watchman with a fimbo.

It was a mess. Soviet generals made millions selling hardware to war lords especially in Africa. If Isil and Al Qaeda were around in the early 90s…
