carbon bulid up is normal with GDI (and D4 for toyota) because of the configuration. it has injectors in the cylinder and an eexhaust recycling system that causes the build up. the carbon deposited on the valves interferes with the fit. the build up in the injectors blocks them. then you get the misfiring (miss)
