Mini- Resort around Nairobi

Hi folks,

I am a normal Kenyan earning the normal peanut salaries just as any other Kenyan.
I have a dream of building a small mini-resort about utmost 60 km from Nairobi. So ideally my location is along Magadi Road, in a slightly remote set up.

I am thinking of building a small, quiet, laid back retreat with a swimming pool, well manicured gardens, nice views of the sun settting in a very calm off road location. This will be an ideal place for people who are seeking private, cool, laid back romantic moments. My goal is to start with 5 rooms, very nicely done rooms such that each cabin is secluded from the rest where lovers can indulge in their romantic moves without the fear of having too many eyes. Each cabin will be spacious, with a pond, nicely manicured lawns. The cabins will overlook some hills, such that romantic lovers can hold hands, kiss, and enjoy their moments as the sun sets.

You already have the picture of the resort, i presume. I dont want a noisy often full place, but a relaxed green sanctuary where just a few people come to chill, relax and be at peace with nature. My catchy points, well manicured gardens, 2-3 good ponds, cool landscaping and awesome views of undulating bush landscapes. Occassionally, some impalas, zebras might be spotted while roaming. I dont intend to charge those Wazungus rates of Kshs. 20k per night…NO…NO, I depending with circumstances, i will price it fairly such that its not pricey.

Kindly, lets chambus this idea. I have attached pictures of some suggestions, not necessarily the same designs, but i intend to borrow from these ideas.

Is the project feasible? or i am just dreaming building castles? has any member partaken in such?

If you manage to have a common pool for sleeping guests the better. Hata mimi I like the idea.

Thanks bro, yeah…there will be a pool, a heated one for that matter

How much do you think such a venture can cost?

Go for it bro. That is all i can say. Usiende kaburini na hio dream yako.

Hapo ndio kizungumkuti iko… excluding land costs, how much would say 6 nicely finished cabins, landscaping, pond creation, swimming pool and facilities cost? Plus also kusumbuliwa na local government.

Thanks.

20m itaweza?

Wacha kiherere. Jenga apartments hapo kinoo then ungoje tenants

I will never buy 500 square metres of land for 7-8 million.
I would rather buy 20 acres in Kitale or Nanyuki and put it into agricultural use.

hahahaa, i think so…but problem, am just a hustler with a dream

Lol. YOU ARENT READY TO BE A PROPERTY OWNER

Yes sir.

You have a good idea, but peasant salary won’t afford you the kind of well finished resort you posted there. If you can secure funding and some bribe for the tourism licences you are good to go.

The competition in this business is stiff… uko magadi road zimejaa uko. I am not sure how you will cpe with the competition but before you do anything i suggest you do a proper casestudy… check out champagne ridge you can steal some ideas.

Thanks a lot sir,

agreed 100%

Anza na viti za plastic na upike na kuni ama makaa and work your way up.

bora kuna basement pahali for directors only , na mtu akuje na drinks zake mbure tuta kunywa hoteli tumalize , Nice idea.

Good idea…it is very much possible even with your cashew nut salary :D. Make it your long-term project i.e maybe achievable in 10yrs with the land purchase being first priority. You can also toy with the idea of tented camps, it’s simpler to construct.
