How far should an engine go in terms of mileage for a common mwananchi car that does 4okm on daily basis and may 300km plus once in a while. The car is well maintained and not driven carelessly. The engine size is 1790cc or rather 1800cc
What should be the maximum mileage for such engine…

…200k km hiyo engine bado ni mpya…i have seen on the net someone saying his 1NZ-FE engine died at around 500k miles thats around 700k km. So the engine still has over 500k km lifetime left unless abused
I know an engine, covering an average of 10k kms monthly, that lasted about 38months. Na isipokuwa ni sump kugongwa which messed the strainer, would have done even more.
Depends with the quality of oil used. SAE 40( mono grade) will give you a max drain of 2,500- 3,000 km. Multi grades depend with levels of additive. The higher the additives the premium the oils is and hence more millage before the additives get depleted. Note that synthetic oils i.e. Mobil 1, quartz 9000 etc…guarantee up to 20,000 km. However for diesel (heavy commercial) safe millage is 10,000km w mineral based oil an 15,000km with semi-synthetic.
