Last time we traveled back to Kenya from US , Airticket alone was $8,500 ( Kshs 1M) …uwiiiii!!! Please don’t wonder anymore why some Kenyans move abroad and come back home after 12 years! Especially if you have to travel with family!

Now picture this: that amount t does not include expenditure for your 1 month stay in Kenya, food,accommodation, transport coz you have to hire a V8 to scare the village people , vacation to Mombasa, Taxation by watu wa mtaa! So in short you are looking at around Kshs 2.5 M to stay for 1month in Kenya and live a decent middle class/high class life that you are used to while in the US!

He’s either a moron or a liar. A round trip is $800 per person. He’s clearly travelling couch so he took the cheapest option, which is nowhere near $8500

Summer holiday time is the only time family are able to travel due to school going kids.Ticket is 2000-2500-3000 kama ni watu wanne.Most diasporians wako na family it takes them hata 10 years to plan a family trip.Only Matanga can make them break the cycle

So you know more than him who has done it? If he is flying from eg. dallas to new york to nairobi to kisumu and $6300 is just from NY to nairobi, then the $8500 is possible.

Doubt he is complaining. When I used to live abroad kukuja Kenya would cost like 1.5M, nilikuwa nacomplain not because ni expensive, but because sio worth it just to come to Kenya. Would rather rent a villa in South of France for a month na nibaki na pesa.
