All these experts are dead wrong. For one, AI is not a preserve of just one firm. Google and others will come in with equally good products. I would not be surprised if a third firm came up with the winning implementation. Two, the traditional casual search, where users want to see real search results, is irreplaceable with a few paragraphs of text, no matter how accurate they may be. Finally, we should not forget that Youtube has become an integral part of web searches. In short, Google’s strong position persists. It will take more than AI, which it also possesses, to dethrone it.
And even if someone came up with a super superior product, users will not migrate overnight as old habits take time to die. This gives the contemporary market leader time to react. It took gmail years to overthrow yahoo, even though gmail had better options. The same way touch keyboards on phones had to live alongside physical keyboards for years before users agreed to move.
