If I had the time and I lived in Kenya, i think I would start an oxygen manufacturing plant. This idea has fascinated me for a very long time even before the start of the pandemic. I would buy E cylinders as well and package the oxygen for sale to the general public. If it were possible, everyone should have an E cylinder O2 tank in their home for emergencies. Anyway, dreams are valid!
Not a bad idea. I haven’t looked at this one. But what are the barriers of trade. I know that they come under Fda regulation and in Kenya ( pharmacy board, WHO certification) that really complicates things for medical issues.
Let me tell you simply, in plain ENGLISH. Its not worth, the private Hospitals have their own plants and Well run county Hospitals have working plants. The counties which will buy from you are the poorly managed ones, which will not even pay for the Oxygen
Fda regs don’t apply here since one would be importing from China. I’ve no idea what certifications would be needed on the kenyan side…but I think it’s neat to have that capability. There are so many lung diseases, acute and chronic, amongst Kenyans which require supplemental O2.
It’s a good thing to have for emergencies as part of your preparedness toolkit. I recall papa Shira who passed on at the parking lot of a certain hospital due to lack of oxygen. The MP of Matungu as well, Mr. Murungu. Kids can develop breathing problems at night, asthma attacks etc where oxygen is key in pre-hospital stabilization.
I have been trying to set up a gas filling plant and trust me, the number of visits from diiferent government organisations some of which I didnt know even existed is over whelming. Heck I even had county officials ‘forcing’ a boundary in order to claim licensing fee.
After all, I now understand why people do it under the radar, I cannot blame them. Anyway, if it is commercial, either go big or go illegal, hakuna mambo ya SME.
Hmmm…see how bazungus get ahead by providing expertise in niche areas. Not because we don’t know the industrial chemistry or lack capital. But him being a jungu I’m sure he gets a free pass from the locals in terms of licenses. Glad your dad is okay.
If you manage to crack this you will be be loaded. Let no one tell you that private hospitals have o2 plants which one specifically? In the southrift alone nakuru pgh plant is the only one capable of supllying quality o2 with oxyplus following. If you have the cash and means of transportation then why not?
