Which book is this? Who is the author?
Halafu I have a question. Why do you always post such interesting snippets from old books from the south? Are you a history graduate student or what?
Si wewe ndio ulipost ile part yenye a slave was being tortured in Jamaica and the slave fought back by throwing something at the master?

If you want to know where you are going, you have to know where you came from. i am student of history. We already have a good idea of the black people’s perspective on their history. What i want to find out is the slavers perspective on the black people. That is a perspective that is often not talked about. For most people, when they hear something negative, they shut down.

But it is important to get a complete objective view of how black people came to be where they are right now and how much that remnant think permeated to modern times. Cultural norms do not simply disappear, they just find new ways to permeate society.

For example, the reasons we circumcised boys 150 years ago are not the same we do it today. But the culture still permeates. Even in places where it has lost most meaning, there is still a feeling of being left out if a person from a bantu tribe is uncircumcised. Not that someone came to a young boy one day and told him this and that about it. Just words, phrases, sentences, chuckles said over time. It would cause a young man of bantu extract if he were among his peers and were uncut, he might not know why but still, the feeling would be there.

If you do not understand where the other person is coming from when they make some kind of insult based on your skin color and your culture, it is very hard to hold an informative discussion that goes deep into their subconscious understanding of the world. 1890 might seem like a long time ago but those practices remained until the 1970s. Those people had children who had children who had children. They might have stopped talking about the thing outwardly but at some point, slips and words said in childhood no doubt shaped their perspective in life.

If you do not know where they are coming fro subconsciously, you cannot deal with the issue and how to talk about the issue yourself

Why don’t you write a book or a blog about what you have learnt? Some of us want to read about what you have to say. You may be surprised how many followers you may get if you write on this topic.
I also want to ask, where do you get these books from? I may want to read some of them.
