Matiangís Mautiajis

My work for 14 and a half years has been with projects, specifically on M&E. Modern day project management is informed by the lessons learnt in pre-1983 projects. The conceptof community participation has been effective even while acknowledging the criticisms of the same in the context of their effectiveness (see, Mansuri, Ghazala; Rao, Vijayendra. 2013. Localizing Development : Does Participation Work?. Policy Research Report;. Washington, DC: World Bank. © World Bank. https://openknowledge.worldbank.org/handle/10986/11859 License: CC BY 3.0 IGO.)

As a long would be parent, I am appalled by Matiangi’s decision to close schools from first week of november to january 2017.

Previous arrangements of school terms has always helped parents to take leave and offs, closely monitoring their kids behaviour during holidays. For third terms, the december break allowed parents to take leave in the excuse of christmas and new year holidays. Further, long holidays always implies bigger household expenditures and i bet that fees havent dropped.

Now that holiday starts in November. Which employer will allow offs and holidays in that month? I feel the parents were not consulted on this one. This scoffs at the supremacy of stakeholder participation.

I hate to say this as a long would be parent, but watoto wataharibika, mimba zitashikwa.

  1. I don’t think you are a parent

  2. unasema mimba zitashikwa

hii kama si kujiseti sijui what is?

nimesema 'long would be parent

namaanisha kids will lack parenting and will most likely engage in risky behaviour. Mark you, kenyan news has shown severally hata jana kids wakikomboa hao na ku.have sex orgies

let me ask you, kwani all kids are teenagers/adoloscents to engage in sex…why are u only focusing on a particular age group of students? unania gani Bingwa?

true …its them i am worried about. And I am also sure that these present the biggest worry to parents

sina nia yeyote. I am religious and ethically conscious

sijui kwanini wazazi wengi huchukia kuwa na watoto wao karibu, i never knew that until wen i reached highskul i had been called to enroll at queen of apostles highskul ile pale thika rd, but my declined to take me there opting for aga khan high skull reason being it was a day skull n dad prefered to see me home everyday maneno ya boarding skull pia mimi sikuwa napendanga. lakini wazazi wengine huskuma watoto boarding eti ndio wasome bila kusumbuliwa, kumbe wao ndo hawataki kusumbuliwa. alafu tena hio logic yakusema eti financiall burden inawapata wazazi during holidays iz ridiculous kwani shule ilikuwa S.O.S kwenye unalelewa mtoto bure, si ulikuwa unalipa hata kama mtoto alikuwa anakula shule? infact mimi mbuyu na matha walikuwa wananiambia every first wk ya kufungua chuo nisiende and believe it or not my dad advised me not to attend skull tution zile za holiday, eti zile za class 6-8 or form 3 & 4. i never attended any of them. shule ikifunguliwa nlikuwa na pewa pano na kuambiwa niite mzazi. i used to call my dad anaenda anaingiza mwalimu box eti nlikuwa msick. the next holiday same story again hadi walichoka na sisi.

uliwahi nini 8 na 4th?

kuwa honest; tuko anonymous plus wewe ni nomad mwenzangu

class 8 nlipata 375 form 4 nikaskumia B stand juu ya alama. alafu gurba mbona nikama nakujua?

Before you whine check the school terms in other countries. I used to go for Holidays from 1st week of December hadi February in Uganda.

Bingwa has a point there, I am thinking of organizing Holiday Tuition for my son for a few weeks during the holidays.
