As you are all aware , that all old passport will became obsolete come end of December, 2021. Since the financial years 2021/2022 has just commenced, our department has lined up several benchmarking trips abroad, therefore is everyone duty to have all their travelling documents ready to avoid disappointment and last minute rush.
Yesterday I had gone to Nyayo house to renew my passport, The normal Government office problem of “system ziko chini” whatever that means, we had to queue for almost 3 waiting’s awaiting the system to start working.
We had lined up almost 1000 people, there COVID protocols don’t exist, My observations and after keenly listening to my fellow Kenyans applying for passport, I noted the following
95% are aged between 14-25 years
They main purpose of applying the passport is to relocate to Austria, Cartel, Saudi Arabia etc.
Most come from humble background, how will they pay for the air tickets?
Majority are semi-illiterate form four leavers, They are unable to read and comprehend the simple instructions in the application form, therefore several back and forth at the counter
Most felt aggrieved by the process taking quite long, since its hindering them from prospering to greater heights and improving their financial status
My concerns are what is ailing this country, where are this youth going to? what will they be doing there, how do they finance the air tickets, is abroad “perfect” as we are told? who are behind this mass relocation?
Are there no policies and regulations to regulate “modern human trafficking” especially where minors are involved, I noted three minors who only had poorly written consents from their parents and their parents were missing in action.
niliona jana uhuru signing a contract with UK to export nurses. Now if a whole president anafanya vitu peupe ,what do you expect people to think of going abroad?
Wacha waende,Kenya kama hauna assets worth 20 million and a net income of 2 million per year as a bachelor with no kids or family to support utaumia Sana.
Abroad is not perfect far from it there are issues of course, each dependent on whichever country you relocate to but in most of them you have your rights as a human being. You cannot compare the standards of living in a first world country to Kenya. The fact that you dont see the long unnecessary queuing as an issue, tells you how much you’ve been desensitized to things not working.
When you see a system work and I mean actually work, when you dont have to bribe to expedite things, when you dont have to watch your back because of idiotic incompetent “kanjos” or worry how your inept government is going to next screw you over or get concerned over lack of basic amenities that you’re actually paying for. When you don’t have be to be rich to afford or access what should be available to everyone but is limited to the elite or When you can go outside and not have to hop step and jump over all the place to dodge garbage in your way, trust me you will quickly understand why they’re flocking to go outside and I haven’t even mentioned things like education health services wages etc.
A few days ago Mimi humwaga ndani said he can’t drive his beamer everyday because of the kinds of driving and traffic here and even though he received a lot of flak since most people thought he was flexing I understood what he meant. Honestly this isnt the place to enjoy high end vehicles. I’m sure a lot of citizens can afford lambos and Porsche’s but where is the fun in driving that here. Kenya is great when you have money you will see a different side of the country but some things will always be a hustle
The gap between rich and poor is ever increasing in this country. Youths are emigrating to go to work for as low as 20k per month in middle east while the number of flashy cars in Nairobi is increasing daily.
Unemployment is growing every year. Kwanza when covid hit Unemployment shot up very fast.
It will reach a point where having connections to get a job will become useless.
Instead of the youth wasting their time tarmacking and placing their hopes in wakina Ruto wacha waende kujaribu their luck abroad.
