Lets just wait and see… it will be such a herculean task as Tz is way worse off, unlike Kenya where corruption emanates from abuse of governance structures and failure to enforce existing laws, in Tz the governance structures are almost non-existent and there is no clear separation of government and the ruling party CCM. Most of power is centered around the president/executive and decrees are the order of the day.

He might do a good job, but there is need to anchor good governance in institutions and not individuals because they might just slip back when his term expires.

It’s tricky because CCM does not want to cede power to CUF. They are insisting that the election process should be repeated and CUF is having none of it. Negotiations are still ongoing. I think they might settle for a joint government (Nusu mkate, Nusu carpet) kind of arrangement.
