I am certain that Ruto knows this. I think he just hopes to cannibalise as much of a percentage as possible for Raila not to get 99% of votes here as will be the case in Nyanza.

Even a 35% score in Western would be super solid for Ruto. He also needs to put a lot more effort in Ukambani too and see if there is a way to accommodate Kalonzo into the fold.

Wiper held a meeting to deliberate on this 2 days ago. 45 of them voted to join Azimio. 5 voted he stands as an independent, 1 suggested to join Kenya Kwanza and was apparently nearly chased from the meeting.

The ground is too hostile for Ruto in Western. And those numbers are on their way down given that Ruto, Mudavadi and Wetangula don’t seem to have a foolproof plan for the Western vote.
Internal UDA-ANC wrangles. Wrong choice of pointmen(insert Malala & Khalwale). Poor mobilization.
Compound this with the offers they have received from Azimio (without conditions). I hoped for an interesting skirmish for this bloc, but it’s such a walkover that it’s embarrassing.
Whatever little Ruto will get here, he should be grateful.

They are having the same issue in Nyandarua, UDA vs TSP and Kilifi UDA vs PAA.
Thos Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties will only remain useful to Ruto if he loses the elections. If he wins watafinywa makende hadi watii.

Complains everywhere as UDA is fielding candidates despite zoning agreement. Kiambu/Nyahururu/Muranga other candidates are crying foul.

August is very far and UDA might also suffer in Central.

Note carefully; President and Deputy President are all UDA- Kenya Kwanza comes second.
