Maisha Ya Kenyan Remand Ni Magumu Waziya! Very Very Difficult

Pole kaka

Mnaija flani nilienda kumcheki Inda alisema kila kitu ilikua sawa. The only thing missing was tissue paper and soap…
Ukitaka maziwa unapewa, phone alikua nayo, ukitaka kumuona unaeza enda kumcheki

My cousin was hired by an auctioner to go a for job in parklands to pick/ transport items from an Asian family home to the auctioners yard … During that mess the lady of the house was injured and police were called… long story short my cousin ended up in inda remand for a month until former governor sonko intervened… alitushow that month was the hardest thing he has done…

I am more interested in learning about the hierarchy of Kenyan prisons. We have all heard stories about the conditions. Rape, bad food, cramped cells, disease, pests. But you never hear anything about the structure. One thing I have observed with all prisons is that inmates self segregate and create their own power structures which even wardens respect. Would be interesting to know how it works in GK prisons. Is it about tribes, gangs, the seriousness of crimes or what.

Kama ukona pesa, unaeza iishi vizuri.

What i have heard from friends and relatives who have spent time in prison is that the prisons are very well run. Hii mambo ya rape, beatings, torture iliisha kitambo.
Incase prisoners engage in such vices they are quickly disciplined by the guards (wanavalishwa bucket kwa kichwa and get the crap whipped out of them)
Any kufunguliwa boot is therefore done in utmost discretion between two consenting parties.

Shida ya prison ni lack of basic things especially soap, tissue, toothpaste, etc.
Also remand hainanga uniform like prison. SO that means zile nguo uliingia nazo ndio utashinda nazo. You will be surprised how sitting and sleeping on hard surfaces makes your clothes to quickly wear off.
The other problem ni spending cold nights on concrete floors for those unlucky to access a mattress or a blanket. Usually these are bought from outgoing prisoners or you bribe a few guards to bring/lease you a mattress.

Finally the food in jail is very basic and far away from being delicious.

wacha uongo bana remand haina mambo mingi apart from mafi ya ndoo

Watu huku hupenda exaggeration sana. Wanaskia kitu then wanaescalate. Alarmists

Rubbish. Remand the only problem ni mnalala dorm kwa floor and food ni ugali/posho…au maji ya cabbage…

Hii kufunguliwa boot ni hekaya…a security guard at our local has been to inda twice and the only issue he had was food and sleeping arrangement…

Hata me hushindwa nyinyi mnaishi Kenya gani. Nimelala rumande mara kadhaa na apart from the cold and discomfort ya kulalia simiti, everything just airee. Within minutes of landing there, the niggaz size you up na kaa wewe ni msee unajirank they defer to you hata mnashare smokes, kabambe na of course hekaya zingine mwenda. The last time i was arrested last year hata niliboeka kutolewa haraka juu my hawkish lawyer alikam kuzusha ‘mbona mnakataza my client cash bail, wapi OCS wa hapa’. Wasee were cracking me up na all sorts of hekayas na the cameraderie is outta this world

would like to hear abt the women’s side

Nkipata time ntaleta hekaya ya time spent hapo Inda
