Machakos County Assembly members will be discussing an Impeachment motion against the county Governor, Alfred Mutua today.
Funny enough, only 28 MCAs are expected to be present at the Assembly buildings after 31 got an ‘emergency’ official duty trip to Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.
Word has it that the 31 have each been given 650,000 shillings; 150,000Kshs for air transport and the remaining 500,000Kshs will be for miscellaneous expenses while in the respective countries.
Ndalani MCA Stephen Muthuka, who is the mover of the motion has accused the governor of misappropriation of bursary money and diversion of public money
for personal use among them funding the affairs of his Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement party.
Now, the impeachment motion is expected to automatically collapse since the remaining 28 are below the constitutional 2/3 threshold requirement to impeach a governor.
Rumour has it that the MCAs trip has been funded and sponsored by Mutua so as to prevent his impeachment…Maybe Yes, Maybe No.
