Wadau saidieni peasant hapa…
Am doing a research project that will require me travel to the Mara game reserve. The project is a school project and will be needing to present it to my supervisor in a month or two. Now am on a budget(Peasant budget) and need to travel to the place. Am thinking of hiring a car to Narok or depending on the happenings of the next few days i may end up using public transport. Now here comes my questions
If I opt for a car hire will it be possible to navigate the terrain of the park for may be tops 3 hours. Coz the peasant in me cant afford a 4*4
If I use public transport to Narok, how much will it cost me kupata gari ya kuingia park. The stay should be max 4 hours.
H!mm I’ve been here before …get a mat from narok to talek …get a cheap guest house apo …amka morning talk to the maasais hapo kwa carwash …get a good deal to visit the park and get back before the mat from talk to narok leaves for narok …that’s the budget way out …car hire itakwama before ufike kwa gate ya Mara n they’ll charge u for entry which in the mat they don’t
Thanks. But I have a few questions…Whats the fare from Narok to Talek? Will I be able to see some animals while in the park? Approximately whats the budget for the maasai guide(after nimefika Talek?
You’re an honest man. Some people would have gone to a cyber Cafe, stole some images from the internet then photoshoped themselves into the images then call it a wrap. Applause applause we have an honest Kenyan
You can use a small car but make sure it has not rained. To actually see the animals without a tour guide, just set out and follow with the tour guides taking tourists after 4 am and follow them. Otherwise finding the big 5 animals is very hard on your own.
I happen to reside in that place actually, matter of fact lions, giraffes, zebras, elephants and co happen to be my neighbors. You can ask Syndicate, he recently got a crocodile attached to his leg while delivering to me a screen, no that’'s wrong, apparently it was the crocodile that attached itself to his feet. Anyway lemme answer each n every of your question.
Definitely, it’ll cost ya 3k maximum gate charges assuming you are two occupants of the vehicle. Broken down its 1k per head plus 500 for the vehicle. And I highly recommend a 4x4. Ask around the charges for hiring.
This depends with the owner of the vehicle. I don’t know of any around here that has their vehicles readily available and has fixed prices for the adventure. I suggest you contact a booking agent of a reputable safari company from Nairobi, am sure they’ll give you the relevant info. There has to be one operating on daily basis or even better within your stipulated period
I’ll give you the simplest choice. Take public transport from Nairobi to Narok. Then Narok to Talek. From Talek hire a Land Cruiser, am not sure of the price. From there you can do your own estimations
just chukua mat uende kucrash hapo talek. Nice places hapo mpaka kuna ya walach ya 1k per night… scout around hiyo area, you can get good deals. Ni research ya nini kwanza?
This is the high season trying to hire a van or land cruiser from the Mara will prove very expensive if you are on a budget, though the park fee will be minimal as you are a kenyan, otherwise if the research is taking less than a full day just take a matatu to TALEK, organise to sleep there kuna a small one called go green hapo, do your recon from there organise upelekwe kwa wanyama residents can hire their care for around 9k entire day typical safari ni around 1700hrs nearest camp is Eagleview.
