Once policy makers (cabinet and who is who in society) are certain that they can buy their way to a ventilator and premium private healthcare for themselves and their immediate families, all restrictions will be lifted. As you celebrate and lower your guard, you will have to ask yourself whether you can buy your way to a ventilator and premium private healthcare or not. At that point, taking preventive measures will be a personal responsibility, not the government’s. Human beings are selfish and self-centered. That’s why I am sure that the lockdown will end at some point and it will have nothing to do with the economy or any of that BS. If a critical mass of the elite and policy-makers believe that they can buy their way to a ventilator, that’s when the economy will reopen fully, people in Githurai and most bonobos here will celebrate. I don’t blame them, for they still don’t know who policies in this country serve - and its not them.
Government policies serve the classes, not the masses. Sometimes the interests of both groups align, and so the masses may think the policies were made for them. When they don’t align (e.g reopening the economy), the classes’ interests have priority. If I am a billionaire and I am certain that I can buy my way to a ventilator for myself and immediate family, then I would reopen the economy fully ASAP for my business to continue minting money. That is human nature. People will be very happy and celebrate without knowing that lifting restrictions is in their worst interest.
Hutahitaji ventilator ukitibiwa mapema. Hutatibiwa mapema kama kuna queue kwa hospitali imefika Timbuktu. The elite can test early and get treatment early hence avoid needing that ventilator in the first place. Kwa raia ya kawaida inaenda general hospital kwenye watu wanashare vitanda, good luck even getting tested there.
Secondly, about ventilators, they are not effective. But they improve your odds of survival significantly. Ukihitaji ventilator ukose, chance ya kusurive ni almost nil. Ukipata ventilator, hapo ni kama 50/50. 50/50 chance is better than guaranteed death.
I’m more afraid of aids than Corona. You can get Corona be in Quarantine with no developed medication and still come out OK after that. It’s not like aids or cancer or ebola where you are totally fucked and can’t get well naturally
Ebola iliisha kitambo. AIDS is no longer a death sentence. Unaweza kaa nayo for decades. Cancer ndiyo jambazi sugu in my opinion. Hiyo ikikupata inakusotesha, inasotesha familia, na bado unakufa tuu. Hata ikienda on remission bado inarudi after some time.
